Sub On Front Floor Over Tranny Hump? RDS Deck ?!?

Has anyone that has an Av without the center console mounted a subwoofer on the floor over the transmission hump in front of the middle seat? This seems like the ideal location since it would not effect seat movement or midgate movement. The only person it would effect is the front middle passenger, who I never plan to carry anyhow. However it is a fairly small location. I think if it was done, the front cupholder may have to be removed or relocated. Anyway my thought was to build a box for that area that would hold a single downfiing 8 or 10. It would be easier to make it fire up but then it would be too overpowering and it would be too open to any spills from the front seat. I would like to get any suggestions or schematics from anyone who has attempted this.

Also on another topic, I have read that anyone with a stock non-Bose radio with RMS or GMS may lose door chimes and other functions if the deck is removed. A local stereo shop said that it was the RDS logo that defined that. But RDS is a radio station tuning format not an interanal control system. I think he is smoking crack, however I would like some other opinions. I do have RDS, however I have looked all over the deck and there is no mention of RMS or GMS. Thanks again.
Thanks! ???

I though about it, designed it, had it priced out to be made, then a friend gave me a box to sit between my back seats, therefor project on hold.

I think it is a great idea. I had it spec'd out to hold a down-firing 10". I say go for it! Us with the bench seats have that big unused space that would be perfect!

Oh, and all I lost was my onstar that was unsubscribed anyways when I ripped out that stock head unit. I still use my Onstar though.

I would be very interested in seeing the specs you came uo with for a down firing 10. I did not think there would be enough room there, but i would definitely give it a shot at building it. Were you planning on removing the cupholders to do this? I got my component set in this weekend and I really miss my sub so i am looking to build a box soon. Thanks.
