Are there any out that wont mess with the seat function or that go in center console? Please advise

(y) Check this out, one side only, but if you get a dual voice coil sub and a good amp your all set!

What about a center colsole unit. Also, what amp and speaker do you recomend? Thanks for you time

Center console can only hold a 6" sub- not for me, I want at least a 10" sub. I know of many makers of the dual voice coil such as Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, JBL and kicker to name a few. It comes down to price, however you do get what you pay for. As far as amps go I'm partial to Fosgate.

I'm afraid that box on ebay will affect function. There is just not that much room! It may fit under the seat but the seat will not fold all the way down. I just installed two 8's and barely had enough room. I'll post some pics. This is the only way I know of to not affect function and it's not easy, but you can do it. I got the idea from another guy who posted pics on this forum.

Thanks for responding. The Steroe Shop says that there is a center unit that allow a 10 inch driver but you loose half the space. They recommend a 200 dollar amp and the box and sub is another 400. They said the Bose system is tricky and this requires around 200 in labor and a special harness. Total cost 800 dollars! I will post specifics when I get to work! How hard was it to install you self? Where did you learn how to do it?

Thanks again

I will check Uhaul. No adapter in by side box but mine didnt come with a hitch. I insatlled a Curt

Do your 8 inch allow the seat to fold down?

Yes they fold all the way down. Seat foam is compressed slightly at the very bottom.

Coolmo.

HOW DID YOU DO THAT ?? I have been tring for 8 hours to make those boxes.. :E: :E: :E:
I emailed he oringal guy (jsduval) to no aval. Would you mind sharing the max depth that those hold speaker wise?? Also, if you dont mind sharing all the dimensions / cubic feet of air that would be great. OR how much would you charge for them ? :)

I am looking at Diamond Audio Sub's, I was doing a M610 inch with the box WillsToyz posted (I have no purchased anything yet), but I do NOT want to affect the folder down.

Thanks in advancd..

Cubic feet on the boxes is about .25 minus .02 for the woofer which comes out to .23 cubic feet. The woofers are the new RF Punch stage 1 (4 ohm) and are designed to work in .15-.35 cubic feet. You can get them at crutchfield for $80 a pair, they are on special. Not just any woofer will work because of the limited space and mounting depth. I used 5/8" MDF and the boxes are 24" long. I don't remeber off hand the other dimensions. I'll try to get some better dimensions. The mounting depth on the Punch woofers is 3 13/16". I actually had to grind into the MDF a little to make room for the magnet.

Thanks coolmo. How do they sound? I am only looking to add the bass to the BOSE system, not rattle my teeth. I would like to crank it if possiable though and have a clean sound.

It looks like the stage 2 is the same size, I might have to get them to handle the wattage from my amp, but same 3 13/16" depth, and same spec for box.

I have a Soundstream Reference 700s AMP that will power these. Series wiring 2 4ohm gives me 8ohms, this amp gives 250wx2. Parrell wiring 2 4ohm gives me 2ohms, this amp gives me 125x2. This means that these subwoofers are a nice fit for this as long as I can do what you did.

They crank and sound excellent. I have a 300 watt RF sub amp on them so they are pretty much maxed out on power. The Stage 2 will probably work although on one of my boxes the foam surround actually barely touches the seat brace at max excursion so I would have to change the boxes a little for stage 2's because they have a higher Xmax. I don't think I need any more honestly. They probably put out 3 times the bass or more than the Bose sub. My rear view mirror shakes a lot when I turn them up.

I see what you are saying, the xmax is 8mm on the Stage 2, and 7mm on the Stage 1. You would be my hero if you share those dimensions when you have a moment.

Thank you for pointing me to the Rockfords, I have not even LOOKED at there brand (WAY too many to look at).

I went to the Shop too the other night in Greece. I think they are NUTS, $499 for a box / sub. I also dont think that the Stealth box is good, what good is replacing the stock sub with a bigger one in the same area? Also, read some posts on this site I remember reading that a member did get this and did not like it. So, I personally am making these boxes like coolmo, with the Rockford's.

BTW the Stealth box removes the rear AV vents which I am NOT willing to lose.

Also, what do they mean the BOSE is tricky? I am keeping my headunit (6cd, xm, onstar) and am installing a EASY plug and play adapter to get audio feeds in RCA. Its the PAC-AOEM-GM24, gives 4 outputs(FL, RL, FR, RR). Its $31 at buy.com, $5 shipping. If you remove the stock HU you can get other PAC adapters to keep the Onstar working, not sure on the XM.

This is all personally opinion.

Here you go. Keep in mind that the stage 2's have bigger diameter magnets because of the 2" voice coil which means more grinding for magnet clearance, and I had to grind quite a bit for the stage 1's. Also the R.F. sub amp I used is about as big of an amp that you can use. The seat almost hits it when folded down. Unless you can find another place to mount the amp.

Also, when carpeting boxes, don't run carpet all the way underneath the box. Just go around the edge and staple. The boxes have to be pressed down tight for extra clearance. Notice how I did my mounting brackets.

You need to get your rear seat lifted a bit to get some more clearance. You can do this by adding some washers to the bolts where the seat attaches. I think I spent all of 4 dollars jacking my rear seat up 0.5 inches. Granted, I've had a set of aluminum lift blocks made since then so I'm guessing it sits up maybe 0.7" higher than stock. This should fix those clearance problems.

How does lifting the seat affect the midgate fold down or the people getting in the truck?

Coolmo, YOU ARE MY HERO. Once I try it out I might have to donate to your efforts.

Thank you SOO much. BTW, can I change this at all? If I raise the seat .5" like aSHP00l mentioned I think the Stage 2 will fit nice, and get more air space. I would give you original credits of course
