The Suburban gets the first inanimate object star on the Hollywood walk of fame due to it's long history in films and shows.

Those starting at and shown as prices.   I know I'll never be ordering a new one.

I hear ya, 51k starting price is a bit high. Maybe GM Fleet  can make one without all the screens.

I bought my last new vehicle back in 1984.

At this point in my life, I seriously doubt I ever will again.

Like the singer Roy Clark once said, "If they were selling riverboats today for a nickle apiece, all I could do is run up and down the river bank hollering "Ain't that cheap!""

Y'all just keep buying these new, fancy rigs and I will stand on the side of the road and wave as you go by.

I understand where you all are coming from, even our beloved AVs were out of reach for many buyers when new due to price. I remember discussing with many people who couldn't justify buying an AV when to them they could save thousands of dollars and get a Silverado pickup. I could not sway them until they went for a test ride and saw all the versatility in the AV and it was related more to a Suburban.
The lower priced Suburbans really haven't been made since the 1980's when they could be considered "work trucks" and were bare bones with rubber mats v. carpeting and third row seating and plush stuff. I think we have become spoiled with luxury interiors and all the electronic bells and whistles now and it would be hard to go back to the basics.
Yes I grew up with the old saying "You loose 1/3 the value of a vehicle once you drive it off the lot." That being said by the never buy new group of buyers. I also know now is hard to buy used vehicles due to faulty histories or scams pulled on buyers.
At least buying new you know the maintenance/accident record of the vehicle and most repairs are covered for the first 3 or so years. Good if you plan to keep that vehicle for a long time.
Either way new or used my father taught me many decades ago if you finish you car payments keep putting that money away in savings until you have enough to pay cash for your next vehicle, then pretend you are making payments to your self each month in a savings account specifically for you next vehicle. That way you never pay interest on a car loan.

I'm the oddball that would be happy without all the bells, whistles, touch screens, leather, heated seats and so on.  I ordered my '01 325i with only the sport package, sunroof, single disk cd player and fold down rear seat with ski bag to keep the price below what most minivans were selling for at the time.  I don't have leather, heated seats or even cruise control for that matter.  It's now just shy of 224,000 miles and I hope to keep it for another quarter million miles.  I just wish the car companies would allow for people like me to spec out more bare bones type vehicles.  I might be inclined to buy one.

Like you, I don't like buying used either as I usually have rotten luck.  Guess I'll just keep my current rides until I push up daisies.

And that brand new vehicle was a fully loaded 1984 Chevrolet Silverado with a sticker price of $11,284.

The 2004 EXT I am currently driving had a sticker of $55,800.

I have yet to spend more than 20K for any vehicle, including the EXT.

Y'all keep buying those new ones.

It just gives me more to choose from when I get ready to buy.

And even then, inflation adjusted, it would only be $27,933.93 which is super cheap. Heck, these things shouldn't be beyond 40k when fully decked out.

This, which is why I'm inclined to keep my current rides until I die - restoring them if need be.

I just saw spy photos of the 2022 Escalade and all I'll say is wow. I sure hope Cadillac rethinks it

Same with the Z71 - that hideous "grill".  I don't what designers are thinking these days with ever increasing size of grills.  Lexus, BMW, GM... have entered a race to see who can create the most hideous of all front ends.

The only thing I can think of for a grill that big is they are stuffing a Blackwing motor in it.
