SUNROOF WIND DEFLECTOR

I did a search, so don't jump on me if there's a post somewhere that I missed.

I am looking for a website, or anything, that sells sunroof wind deflectors for an '02 AV. My local Chevy dealer doesn't carry squat and can't get anything in...they stink. GMpartsdirect does not show any even available. So, where do I get one?

And do you think that this will stop the resonance when only the sunroof is opened?

I got mine on EBay. The guy sells them for $39.95 and they work great. I cuts the noise considerably. Installation was a snap and it looks good. Here is a link to a current auction from the same guy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2406829191&category=33638

My next question is why does GM not have a wind deflector for the AV available?

I don't see the reason for buying one of these when the purpose of having a sunroof is to let air in your car. But, that is my opinion.

AtomTaz,

I don't know what kind of bugs you get in Denver, but here in Houston they don't ever go away. They get sucked into the cab of your car and get plastered on the back seats and back window. It is a biatch to get them off. So, if one little piece of plastic on the top of my AV will help avoid this, I'm for it.

Just ask Zeeya2000 about the lovebugs in Bayou Country.

Well we get really small bugs. Miskitos and flys that is about it. I never thought about the wind blowing the bugs in you car. Sorry didn't mean to be rude. I just never thought about that.

I put one of the AutoVentshade deflectors on. I think it works very well. Some people don't like the 3M tape, but I have had these on other vehicles and have never had a problem.

I am installing a bene-Vento...it has flaps for driver and passenger to adjust wind flow......

I needed it cause I broke the GM stock wind deflector thingy and have not had it fixed yet.....

I have merged the two threads........so if it looks garbled ...sorry..............

Also ....sunroofs are located in a high pressure zone of the wind passing over the car.....or just behind.....they are more likely to expell air from the cabin then they let in.....

To test get a cigarette and watch the smoke up near the front of the open sunroof and one near the rear.....now crack a window and retest...

Oh yeah this test only works when driving...... >:D

And a pic of one.....

FOr more check out my web page which I finally updated.....

There is a previous post on this. The springs on some of the Avs are too weak, push up on the factory deflector slightly and the resonance will go away. Someone had a post about bending the springs. Mine only resonates for about a half hour after opening the sunroof then is fine. If I leave the roof opened overnight everything is fine in the morning. Usually I open it, then close it about 2 inches and it is fine. Check out:

I did a search for "sun roof spring" and there were even more threads on this.
