Im Running A Sony Xplod System 1000 watt 2 channel amp hooked up with 4 g wiring and 14 back to the 12 in subs. and i am running into a problem when i have the volume up around 16 and up the bass cuts out like my deck is shorting out i have no clue whats wrong my friend told me that im not running enough power to the subs and the power that is running to the subs is going to the deck with to much wattage. i really dont know.. anyone have any advice ?

Is the amp shutting off? If so it sounds like an overload into the amplifier this will automatically shut off the amp once you crank it up. If it isn't that, check maybe your connections on the back of the speaker and make sure they aren't shorting. Hope that helps

No I Dont Think Its Shutting Off... Ill Check Tomarrow... If Not Im Taking It Out For Now! I Need A Better Amp Kit I Think. But Ill See I Might Need A Capisitor

I've heard some wild explanations over the years, but this one is definately out there! Don't let your friend touch your Av......

Your amps wiring is fine with the 4ga power and ground. You should not need a capacitor or anything else with that single amp in your system.

Here's what you need to do. Cause your system to have this problem, and while doing so, see what the amp is doing by looking at the indicator LED's on it. Is it reading a fault of some sort? Is the amp actually shutting off? Determine the fault and I'll be able to be of more help. Troubleshooting is what you need right now, not to waste money of a cap or larger wiring kit.

TRY CHANGEING THE SUBS. Thats right the subs.. I have found that some SONY subs were 3OHM not 4ohm. Put in some Rockfords HE2's or even some Alpine type S Then see what happens... Glenn

well first off i like sony.. they did cost me 2 back windows and they sound really nice.. but the only other subwoofers i will get are kickers.. i am not getting the stuff everyone around my area has...

sounds like it is "Clipping" the amp going into sort of overload mode, you might want to turn the gain on the amp down some or up, damn, it been 14 years since I fooled with Amps!!!!!!!!! getting the itch since I got my AV!!!!! even stopped at a stereo shop yest to look around........

take a multi meter and check your subs resistance. if the subs are 4 ohm woofers it should read around 3.7 ohms. you should check because if one of them are blown it will cut the amp out. they might both look like they are working if it is a single chamber box but it might only be one actually working.
