 HELP! Please!

How do I DISABLE the Skip Shift ":8:feature:8:" on a '99 Trans Am?

I'm ruining my LS1 with 4th gear lugging! Any solution to this other than rapid 1st gear acceleration? I think GM may have inadvertantly decreased fuel economy rather than the other way around!

THANKS for any info!!!

BTW... The National Firebird/Trans Am Club msg board hasn't been able to come up with an answer! LOL

AVYNUT,

Several people make what they call a "Skip Shift Elimantor".

Try searching for that on Yahoo and see what you get back.

My buddy had one on his '97 Z28.

Hope that helps.

Check at the following link F-Body.org FAQs for 4th generation cars

Look for the FAQs that refer to CAGS which is the equipment that causes your car to skip shift from 1st to 4th. This is one of the easiest mods going. Many manufacturers make the module that plugs into the solenoid connection that fools your car and eliminates the skip shifting feature. You can also do it with a few resistors at about $.50 each from Radio Shack. I lost the link on how to do this but it's on the internet somewhere.

Good luck! ;D

Just realized that the location that I posted previously does in fact tell you how to disable CAGS with a few cheap resistors - sorry ...I didn't read it real carefully enough before I posted!

As I said before this is an easy 15 minute mod to your TA that you will always be thankful that you did. I did it on my 99 Trans Am - no problemo! ;D
