Are you considering it for your AV and if so what generation is it, first or second gen?
Also doing a word search for tailgate assist should bring up many older threads with info and photos etc......
I used two DeeZee DZ43102 kits on my 2005. I didn't want to drill/modify the bracket into the fiberglass tailgate so I changed the upper mounts and rotated them towards the front and used another stainless steel screw fastened behind the tail light with a nylon locknut. The bottom mounts I used the existing tailgate mounting bolt but replaced the mounting ball with threaded rod and a female ball connection on Amazon. I did have to grind down the outside of the ball on the bottom mount so it didn't rub. Just made it flat and then re-bent the spring clip. They don't recommend the passenger side because the tailgate could jump out of the pivot. So I painted a worm clamp black and placed the worm end into the split space and tightened. Works great! Just as good as the models today. No need to even hold the gate; it drops slowly down. I tried it with one cylinder but it wasn't enough. That's why the second one.
I also used the DZ43102, worked just fine on my 2010 even though the application guide does not specify the 2nd gens. A great inexpensive mod! Now I don't worry about my kids getting a concussion from opening the tailgate.
No modifications were required, but I chose to spray paint the silver steel to white, now it looks like a factory option!
