Tailgate torsion bar lift assist (removes 70% tailgate weight)

I need to do this on the 'new' 07!  How hard will it be with the reverse cam?

You folks should try it with the EZ Down also. Open it and let it float down and easy to lift back up.

I got them both installed. There goes my only form of exercise

I did my torsion bar a week ago, and it's fantastic!

But, a word of advice... if you quickly glance over the instructions on the package, there is a picture of the tailgate off, "twisted" to get the bar into the tailgate.  I wish I had seen this picture sooner, I scratched the heck out of my bumpers where the hinge cups are!

I installed the one I bought from grnxnam last weekend.  Took some time, considering I had help from my son (10yrs old), and the weight of the tailgate was a little too much for him, but we got it installed and "twisted" after a couple tries.

I don't know what kept me from doing this MOD sooner!!!!

Oh my UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Its so much lighter now!! Definitely a gotta have for every AV.

Can't believe we waited so long to do it...became believers when we saw/felt the difference on another Av a couple weeks ago...

All I can say is this is a MUST do mod for the '02/'06 Av...

My 07 tailgate drops like a ton of bricks.  Nothing to slow that sucker down. Tailgate goes up real easy though.

Don't need it on an 07.  It is already built in. You can see the bar go into the tailgate on the left side of the hinge.  My tailgate is very light.

MichiganSilver03 -  are you using the Silverado 1500 E-Z down for your AV. They don't list it for an avalanche??

It is hard to miss. It doesn't look like the aftermarket one where you have to drill into the frame.  It is built into the bump out on the tailgate side.  If you look at the left and right sides of the tailgate they look different.

I will have to take a look at EWeze01's 07 because his gate feels alot heavier than our 06 with the torsion bar mod. I looked at his the other day and did not see a bar but I was not looking where you said either. I know his was heavier though.

Cliff and I agree that the '02/'06 AV with the EasyLift mod is much lighter than a stock 900 Series AV with the assist

Just installed the Dee Zee EZ-down on the new 2007-up model avalanche.  Just purchase the silverado kit for a 2007 and it fits just the same.
