Temperature off

My temperature that reads the outside temp that shows up on my review mirror is off. Its been fine and all of a sudden when I started it up tonight on my home, its reading around 97 or 98 degrees. Its not a crucial issue but just kind of annoying. Any ideas?

How long have you had your Avalanche to detrmine it has been fine? I ask as mine will read higher than actual when vehicle is stopped at light etc. I did not notice this at first. Apparently, the temprature sensor in located in front grill, in the vcnty of the radiator and picks up the extra heat causing false readings. There are a bunch of posts that include photos of the sensor etc. Do a forum search for more details.
