Has anyone tried the tent and mattress that is available? ??? I am thinking of purchasing it for my new truck and wasn't sure how well it works.

I have both and they work great. I do hang my food in bear country rather than leaving it in the truck where I'm sleeping.
If you do a search you'll find several posts about the tent, including some pics.

Do a search on Avalanche Tent and you will fine tons of info including pics I just put up of our labor day weekend trip.

It's a great package!!

Just bought the tent. I didn't spring for the air matress. The tent fits very well and is fairly easy to erect. It seems to be a high quality unit and appears to be made so that it will keep the rain out, but I have not had it out in the rain yet. Overall I was very pleased with the unit. I ordered from one of the site sponsors and received it in about three days.

My only question to the whole tent thing is; Does it fit in the side storage compartment when not in use? If so, I'd just keep it in there.... you just never know. ;D Not to mention you could save a few bucks avoiding a motel.

I ordered it from Dal on the advertisement link above. I spoke to him on his cell and he was on vacation in Florida and still took the order and it is shipping today.

I bought both the mattress and the tent a couple of months ago. The tent is well made and very easy to set up... I put it up first time in about 15 mins. by myself, and it goes up in minutes now that we have done it a couple of times. The only drawback I can see so far is that you can't access the compartments on the side from inside the tent. It seems like you should...the tent wraps up and over the compartment and it would only take a zipper in the right spot! :cautious: The mattress is also well made, and after measuring tha bed and running to the sports stores to get the right size, I finally just bit the bullet and bought the GM one. It is made to fit in the bed exactly and if you get it through Parts Direct it really isn't a whole lot more expensive. I got the Coleman air pump that fits into the cig. lighter. All in all... both are well worth the money spent. We are taking them both on a camping rode trip from Connecticut to South Carolina an about a week!

Good luck with your purchase and happy camping! ;D

Trent what kind of price did you get from Dal?
Thanks.

black, the tent will fit in the side bins. The air mattress is a tighter squeeze, and folding it so tightly can generate weaknesses in the material. And when it is very cold the vinyl freezes and becomes brittle.

I bought it from Dal for $180. I am going to go to Walmart or somewhere to get an air mattress. He wants $80 for the mattress which comes with a pump. Which is a good price, but I don't need the pump. So I think I can get one for $30.
