My wife was driving our Avalanche on a highway bridge overpass when she was struck from behind by another car. This collision caused my wife to spin out and strike the concrete bridge railing. The Avalanche took out about forty feet of railing before coming to rest. The airbags deployed and then the On Star system activated and was able to call 911 for her. She was a little sore and shaken, but did not recieve any injuries. As you can see from the photo, the passenger cabin is as solid as a rock. Thank you Chevy for buiding such a great truck! We are now shopping for a new Avalanche.
Glad to see that no one was injured. Very nice to hear that the truck did its job of protecting its occupants and that the OnStar performed as it should as well. Good luck in your search for a new AV

It's so good to hear a survival story like yours. Safety is one of the reasons that I looked at the AV in the first place. I wasn't going to get the onstar but had it forced on me by the dealer. Thanks for sharing your happy ending with us.
Thank God, your wife did not get injured.
Now that you are shopping for your 2nd AV. Any things you are going to do differently in the search or purchasing? Different options? '02 or '03?
Glad to hear there were no injuries, my wreck in my AV wasn't as bad as your wife's, but I agree, AVs do their job of protecting the drivers/passengers.
Big cars rule!
BTW, glad you're staying with the AV, excellent taste in vehicles
