Hey,

Avy owners. I just bought a 2002 victory red ;D and noticed that the horn sounds a little dull with a single sound... I'm used to the harmony of a double horn sound is that normal :9: please help

Do a search in this section for horns....many have changed them out with different brands...

good luck and welcome to the club

after a search you will also notice that more than a few of us had one of our horns die - almost always after splashing through water or something a little more serious >:D . That happended to me after some serious mudding, I do believe the horn located in the right front nose faces such a way to make it succeptible to plugging. The horn then sounded very "lame" as only one was firing.

My local Chevy dealer fixed it under warranty no questions asked. Even after they saw all that caked on mud under there - now all you neatnicks out there, lemme just say that after some serious mudding there ain't no way to get every last dirt clod off from all the nooks and crannies in the frame. :p

My wife (of all things) complained about the anemic sound of the horn while trying to give a commentary on someone else's driving. She suggested air horns. I think that'll be my winter project. Either that or a P.A. system.

I've noticed a few people on here use "Avy". Now just say that word again...Avy. Doesn't that sound a little "Wussy" for the "Ultimate Urban Assault Vehicle"? :8:

Well . . . given that the topic is horns . . .

The stock horn makes it sound like an 'avy' - way to wimpy for the truck

I was quite disappointed the first time that I really wanted to get somebodys attention. An air horn would turn it into a true 'Av'

IMO of course ;D ;D

It began to pour here in Chicago a while back and somehow water got in the horn or something like that and it made my horn sound like an import. So I put in an air horn.

Careful there - thats my web site your talking about - I find it just as effective to flip the cutouts - gets folks attention real fast >:D

As to the wimpy horns, they are easy to replace.

I'm having a little trouble following. Is the AV a single or double horn and what are you swapping it out with?

Double. therefore, when you suffer the off-roading induced loss of one horn, the horn still seems to work but sounds even lamer than before.

As for Gando's cut-out option, sounds just like a Harley guy to me . . . . G-man, you sure you don't have an old panhead or shovelhead lurking in your garage, back behind the dynometer or the supercharger kit?

Jackalanche my boy, I am old enough to remember rigging them with springs and piano wire - no stinkin kits in those days - however, I must admit flicking a switch beats crawling underneath ;D

As to owning a Hog, heck no, they scare me to death - I want four wheels under my butt
