I got my truck back from the shop yesterday after the lift kit installation.

I got a Fabtech 6" lift. KMC Venom 16X8 wheels with Nitto Terra Grapplers tires.

I thought I'd share a few pictures.

Great looking AV.

How much did you end up spending altogether?

I'm wondering if it would be better to have the lift professionally installed or attempt to do it myself. I've done lifts on a 97 Ford F150 and a 99 Tacoma.

Is it worth the hassle to save on the install labor fee?

It wasn't cheap.

Lift $1600
Wheels and tires $1600
Installation $850
Alignment $90
Hypertech $300

All my pics are over the 100kb maximum. Any chance you guys can reprogram for say 300kb? How do I send the paperclip attachment? Breedlove
Reduce the size on your desktop - an excellent free program for doing this can be downloade at http://www.irfanview.com/ - very easy to use.

Extreme,

Looks awesome just as everyone here had said. Now I'm really looking forward to raising mine. Still trying to convince the wife. How did you do it?
Does it still ride the same or better/worse? I keep trying to convince myself that I'll get a smoother ride out of my 2500 if I lift it. Anyone agree/disagree? Thanks for the info ahead of time and thanks for making me want to spend more $$$$$$. Fireeater

Another great looking AV. This just may be the final straw. Been putting it off as long as possible, but I see a lift may be right around the corner....

That seems pretty reasonable! 1600.00 is a decent price
Congrats Extreme (y)

I want one :6:

In time....

BTW... what size tires are those?

Congratulations on the lift - it looks great (all lifted Avs look great)!

The pricing for the kit is OK but the other prices sound spendy. It's done now so enjoy it and watch out for low parking garages! >:D

The tires are 305/70R16. I would have liked 35's but I was worried about what it would do to my ratios and the loss of power.

Your ride looks great! What kind of gears are you running? I love the way the ride it on mine. I thought it would be pretty ruff but if you ask me it rides better than stock! A few things I have noticed with mine and am curious to see if it happens to you....I'm running 33" Mud Terrains with the 3:73 gears....let me know how your fuel economy does and how it runs on the interstate. I find that the bigger tires accompanied by the lift kit is putting a strain on my transmission as it keeps downshifting on the highway. I plan on putting 4:33 gears in mine whenver I get some more cash. Anyways...congrats on your lift and keep me posted on your finding.

A few observations after driving my truck for a few days.

It's really, really great to look "down" at Dodge Ram 1500's.

The power loss on going from 31.5" tires to 33" tires is noticable.

I wasn't ready for exactly how high my truck would be. If you get your truck lifted, be careful getting out of it for the first few times. I thought I was going to end up breaking an ankle.

The truck has a little bump-steer when going slow.

The rear end feels different when cornering. Almost like it's sliding. It's not bad, just something I have to get used to.

I'm very happy with the lift. It rides great and I love the way it looks.

TE,
The truck looks great (y) I like that wheel/tire combo. I am scheduled to have my truck lifted tomoorow with the Rancho lift. I hope mine comes out looking as good as yours ;D I am having my gears changed to 4:10's at the same time, but I'm starting to second guess myself if this is enough gear reduction with 33's. Any thoughts out there?
Enjoy your Ride,

I think the 4:10's will be fine. I actually think the 3:73's are OK with 33" tires. But then again I've replaced the exhaust, intake and have a Hypertech. I don't know how it would feel without those mods on 33's.

I have the 3.73's on mine and noticed only a slight reduction in performance. Nothing i can't handle. I don't even have much downshifting on the highway. I think it all depends on the tires too. Whats the tread, weight...etc. I have the Nitto Terra-grapplers also. They are made for the street as well as some offroading. If you go with the hardcore mudding tires, i'm sure you'll run into some loss of performance.

Mud!
