I have a Z71 2002 Av (1500). I have the stock rims and tires (17inch with Wrangler AT/S 265/70/R17). I'm considering going with a body lift first. Maybe down the raod a suspension/coil-over lift. Anyways, I'm planning on going back to school and I'm going to have to commute about 75 miles. My Av is my daily driver, so I don't want to kill gas mileage

1) Will the Av look "odd" with stock rims/tires and a 3" body lift?

2) What is the largest tire I can put on my 17" rims with a 3" body lift?

3) What is the largest tire I can put on my stock rims without any complications and without a lift?

4) Do you recommend 17" rims or maybe 16" rims? I've seen/heard of some 18" rims out there too.

Thanks for your input!

the largest I would say you can go with a body lift with out other modifications needed would be 285-70-17... which is basically a 33.

you can go alittle bigger if you install the ford keys, but the larger the tire, the worse the gas milage.....

I am running a tire that is basically a 35 on mine now... but have some issues with rubbing, I am currently saving up to pull the body lift and install a 6" suspension lift.

lifting a truck does not affect power, the size tires you install does.....

with the body lift and stock tires, the truck handled 99% like stock.... very very little difference. if you were to put a slightly larger tire on like 285's, you will hardly notice any difference either....

I will try to find the thread from Utah AV, he is running a 3" body lift and 285's on his new AV....
as soon as I find the thread I will post a link here for you

SSSSHHHH......don't tell the wife!....... :E:

(y) Watch how big of tires you put on it I went with 33s on my Tahoe and the gas mileage was not to bad but the smooth ride was gone for good >:D >:D >:D

Do I need a body lift to put the 285 series on my truck. I'm basically looking for a little bit of height and ground clearance.......for now... >:D

Kurt, 285s should fit without a body lift or cutting. I know someone who put them on a 2500, and he just cranked his torsion bars.
