Tire Question

I have a 4x4 Z71 with the off-roading tires. The other day I notice a piece of what almost looks like paper (but is thicker and stiffer than paper) sticking out the side of my wheel. Sandwiched right between the rim and the tire. It is only about a cenitmeter wide and about 1 inch long. Anyone know what that is?

Yep that's a piece of thick, stiff paper. Probably from a snack food at the factory! Aren't you glad you asked?

Well, that's a cute answer but that's not quite what I'm looking for. It looks to me like it is peeling out of a place where it should be. Do they have to put some kind of liner down or something before they put the tire on the rim?

It doesn't sound normal - I didn't see anything like this when my tires were taken off my 02 wheels. It is very possible a spare piece of paper that got stuck in the bead during install.

I've seen that before, it may be a bar-code tag on the bead of the tire.

I have an O2 AV with factory 265x70x16's. What's a good tire size to better fill the tire wells without having to make any adjustments?

Thats exactly what it is. A barcode from the bead. the first time I pulled on it it wouldn't budge.
It eventually had to be pulled off with pliers. But it slid right out.

RF tire was where mine was, but the others haven't shown up yet.

I had the same thing on my Z71....I tried to pull mine, but it ripped so close to the tire now I can't get to it.

Oh well, can't sweat the little things right?
