Tires Binding when Backing Up

Question for you guys...

I have an ?04 Z71 with 135,000 miles on the clock.

I recently had the following work done:
New Inner and Outer Tie Rods
New Pitman Arm
New Steering Idler Arm
Alignment & Thrust Adjustment
New Drivers Side Wheel Hub

After getting my Avalanche back, I noticed a pronounced ?binding? when backing up to the right. To the extent that it has left tire marks in my driveway over the last couple weeks. This is not as pronounced as when I backup and go the other direction. Also, the vehicle does not back up easily. I have to give it gas to overcome this binding. It acts similar to how it would when making this movement with 4wd engaged but it is not engaged.

I took it back to my mechanic and explained what I was seeing. They noticed it as well. They looked at it but said everything appeared normal.

Anybody run into this before?

I?m looking at taking it to another shop for a look. However, the laundry list of items above is only a portion of the work it has needed in the last 6 months. May just be time to look into something different....

Thanks!

you are the first.

could be somethign with 4wd or front suspension....

Did they align it properly?
Missing any parts?

I can only think of one wheel turns when you back and the other goes opposite way... but for that to happen a few steering linkages would need to be missing.

CV joints maybe or possibly got a faulty hub.

Is it the driver or passenger side that's binding?

I?m guessing they aligned it properly... I have had excellent luck with this mechanic outside of this issue. However, I think I?ll have the alignment checked by another shop.

I?m not positive that one side is binding more than another. I have a visible tire marks on my concrete drive from both sides.

The vehicle drives well on the interstate and does not seem to pull one side or the other. I got new tires just before this work was done. I?m going to have the tires rotated this weekend and ask them to give the tires a good look to see if l there are any signs of other issues.

Appreciate the feedback...

wonder if it is in 4wd...??

That's what I was thinking.

Not in 4wd. Does not bind/catch when turning while going forward . I had the same thought originally due to work done for 4wd issues. Ended up needing a new transfer case encoder motor... mechanic verified it is not in 4wd when returned for reinspection.

I usually like puzzles, but not this kind

Isn't there a front differential actuator that locks the two front axles together on a 4WD?

Check that the brake caliper is not loose. I had the same issue on mine and it was one of the caliper bracket bolts had backed out and fell out. So the caliper still worked but when I was rolling backwards the caliper wedged against the rim and would create dramatic drag. Rolling forward it basically rotated back into place... The other bolt was loose too when I jacked it up. Had to replace the missing bolt, tighten the loose one and check the rim for damage. Luckily the rim had very minimal scrapes on it.

Checked brake calipers but they were fine... I?d have never even thought to look at something like that. I had an alignment done and it is better but still some binding. I?ve almost convinced myself that as the new parts break in, things will continue to improve. However, maybe it is just my way of rationalizing to avoid the purchase of a different vehicle.  $$$

MAybe have a mechanic or dealer or other av owner back it up and see what is happening.

I mean binding up while reversing should be easy to diagnose in person.
one guy inside the other outside looking.
