Toppers old to new. Long, long time Avy owner; new member. Not sure my conundrum is getting posted in the best place, but here it is:
Bought a 2002 Avalanche new with a 'Snugtop' on it. Its versatility in hauling 'stuff' has been awesome for nearly 20 years and 240,000 +/- miles.
Not wanting to end a great thing, I made inquiries as to whether an old topper would fit the 2013 Black Diamonds. Was told, "Yes". So, I bought one. The bad news is I apparently had bad info. I now own an old (but much loved) Avalanche with its old SnugTop AND a 2013 Black Diamond without a topper AND much frustration. Any and all suggestions welcome.

The only difference is the back glass. If your goal is to interchange between your 13 and 02, you can buy the gen two glass and swap accordingly. You can even buy the gen 2 glass and use it on both. I have a gen 2 top I use on my gen 1 Avy.

There is a thread from @blufuz from a few years ago. He modified the rear glass to work on his gen 2.

I have been told by a local (KC Metro area) topper dealer that to put the old topper on to a 2008 or later Avy that you need to replace the moldings at the front of the newer Avalanche cargo space with parts from an older Avalanche. He reports they had this switch out request from a customer and the old just does not quite fit. He also said it was a huge pain and they will never do it again. He double checked and confirmed their experience with an engineer at SnugTop.
My best options may be to find a later model SnugTop for sale. I am in the market.
In any event, It would appear I have both a later model Avalanche and/or a topper for it "For Sale"
Still open for suggestions.

Oh, I wasn't paying attention to the fact you have a 2013. with the Escalade style third brake light.
