Tow lights not working properly

My towing lights are not operating properly. On the tow trailer the left and right signal are operating okay, when the brakes are applied only the right side lights up on the tow trailer. The running lights will not work.  As you know, on the 03 AV, the rear  lights, signal and brake lights are split between the top and bottom tail lights and I assume the module is to correct the trailer signals to operate normally. I have changed the trailer towing module twice. Hmm, maybe the 7 pin needs to be changed. I have been using a converter to change from 7 pin to 5 pin. The converter has indicator lights on it and the lights on the converter are not lighting up so maybe it is the converter that is the problem. Looking for some ideas before changing module again or the converter.

Has anyone actually changed the rear signals on the truck to operate like later models, meaning when the signal comes on both rear lights will flash or when the brakes come on all 4 lights come on? I don't know if this would help. I do realize that the wiring to the 7 pin would need to be changed as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

My experience when loosing a side when brakes are applied has been a ground issue.
Do you have a meter to check the power coming out of your 7 pin or converter?

Yes, I have a meter and can test the connector. What should I look for?
Many thanks

I don't have my manual in front of me, but don't the trailer lights have different fuses than the truck lights? So brake light fuse may be blown.

I wouldn't rewire the truck, as that might open pandora's box.

Not sure why I had not thought there were fuses just for the tow lights. I will check it out.
Many thanks

See page 5-95 in the manual, the fuses are behind the panel on the drivers side of the dash. There is a fuse for trailer brakes, as well as turn signals.

Manual online here: https://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/assets/files/resources/model-years/owner-manuals/2003-chevy-avalanche-owners-manual.pdf
