Ok, I have started the ball rolling for this event. I have emailed Troy Dungan from WFAA/channel 8 to inquire about additional information. I hope I get a reply soon.
I will keep everyone posted.
In light of there being a Texas Cruise on Dec 1 I think DFW GTG be postponed until Jan in order that we can concentrate our efforts for this cause.
Any members who have any information or suggestions please post up. Lets make this a Happy Holiday season for many needy children in the metroplex!
I have done something similar to this in the past and the warmth of a smile on a childs face is irriplacable and it will make you feel good inside!

Just wanted to throw the website out in case it had anything we might need, haven't had the chance to look at it all yet:

BTW, I would also like to suggest maybe when it gets closer to Christmas, maybe find somewhere where you can drive through a neighborhood or something to look at Christmas lights.

Hello Mr Dungan,
For years I have seen you on tv promoting toys for tots and aplaud your efforts to bring a cheerful Christmas to many needy children. I am a member of the Chevrolet Avalanche Fan Club of North America. www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com We have 3900+ members nationwide and somewhere around 3 dozen or more members locally and growing.
The reason I am writing is the DFW chapter of this club has discussed volunteering for Toys-for-tots in collecting toys this year and would like more information reguarding contacts etc.
My idea would be to get members in the various areas of the metroplex to collect the toys and bring to a drop off point as well as assist thru the club chapter in donating toys. I have several ideas in mind.
Hopefully this can spread through the total membership in the club in other regions of the state and country.
Thank you,
David S Wick

Thanks a bunch...

I am sending your e-mail on to Sheila Brenner who does ALL the planning for
Santa's Helpers. You shoud hear from her soon.

Merry Christmas!

Troy D.

I thought about interlochen the trouble is the massive amounts of traffic in that area. My brother lives in there.
The lights and displays are beatiful, just dont know if the traffic dircetors will allow us to remain together as a group.

We can also do Prairie Lights at Joe Pool lake. We can meet somewhere before and drive in together. I have been there the last couple of years and they have a good showing of lights.

Let us know about the Toys for Tots.

Here is a biker cruise

What We Do...

The Toy Run benefits MHMR of Tarrant County & Christian Community Action, where the toys are distributed to hundreds of underprivileged and challenged children all over the Metroplex. All monies collected are earmarked for educational needs & recreational use only.

"A Brief History"

The "Tampa diggers" Toy Run began in 1986 and benefitted the Crossroads Development Center of Haltom City.

There were 209 bikes and 247 participants in that first Toy Run. 82 children were given gifts and the run began at The Harley Center in Arlington and DM Best in Fort Worth. The bikes then met at Diggers in Fort Worth and traveled to Haltom High to meet the children.

The name was officially changed to the Tarrant County Toy Run in 1987.

In the year 2000, the legal name was to the Tarrant/Dallas County Toy Run to honor Dallas County's contribution and include our 5013C (non-profit) status. We then adopted the name "THE BIG TEXAS TOY RUN" since that's what everybody in this great state calls it.

I was discussing Joe Pool lake tour of lights with my friend on the way to Springfield and back this weekend. I think this could be the best option for us to load up the families and friends and take a tour of the Holiday decorations.
There is also a neighborhood here in Bedord/Euless area that combines efforts and thru homeowners association fees, decorates common areas as well as provides awards for individual catagories. I think there are close to 100 or more homes in this area. I can look into this as well for those of us in this part of the metroplex.

Yes, we probably should start a thread for the Holiday GTG. Lets leave this topic for T-F-T only.
I think Joe Poole lake should be a good idea.
Lets plan it for a Saturday Say the 14th or the 21st?

Dave,
Any word on this? Do we want to combine it with the Joe pool lake cruise. Let me know if you have heard anything.

Here is what I am thinking. Meet around 2:00 on the 14th at a local dealer. Vandergriff would be the closest to this area. I will have to stop by and talk to the manager. Hang around from 2:00-3:30 and collect as many toy's from family and friends. Then cruise to one of the local drop off locations in the area. After that head over to Oaisis (sp??). This is the restraunt that is at the lake. Have dinner there from about 5:30 to 7:30 then cruise the lights from 7:30-8:30. We could then hang out after the lights or head home.

What does everyone think about this?? We need to put out a flyer today to give everyone enough time to plan for this. I will stop by the dealer today. I need to check out a trail blazer for my wife while I am there.

That sonds like a good schedule, I will cut and paste this info to the GTG thread.
Havent heard anything from the director from Channel 8 yet. will call her Monday

George -

Sounds good to me, although the Vandergriff people were nothing but rude to me when I was there, that's why I wouldn't go buy my AV from them. BUT if they are willing to let us gather there I'll put aside the sour feelings and help out for a worthy cause ;D

I can throw together a flyer if you want, I will need contact info from you and probably Dave as well (phone # and e-mail preferably) and I can e-mail it to you and you can send out a group e-mail.

Let me know if that works!

ok, I have to get more information on this today. I have noticed that Young Chevrolet in East Dallas is a sponsor for T-F-Tots. I will go by therre today and see what I can work out with them and the DFW group. We need to rally and help out the less fortunate.
I will post with the latest information today.
