Hey,
I have a 2007 Avalanche LTZ 5.3
I had the codes 1516,2101 before and just cleaned the throttle body and cleared codes. then all was well.
Now I have had the Stabilatrac light come on then the traction control light. It then surges, the check engine light comes on then says reduced engine power and is a limp mode. If i pull over wait a few minutes it resets then I can drive again. now it happens more frequently. I did some reading and watched a few youtube videos. I have replaced the TPS and the connector wiring harness still no change. I read that a few people have changed the MASS air flow sensor and some people have had luck changing the throttle body. I measured the resistance on the TPS pins open and closed and it seems to be normal??? I'm stumped.. I have read that the computer may need to be reset at the dealer?
Any thoughts?

Update I replaced the accelerator pedal sensor, but that did not help.
I then replaced the throttle body complete with a TPS.
YEH, it runs. So far so good. Bought the parts from Rock Auto.

Forgot to mention if you don't have a scanner that can do the throttle position reset.
remove the negative terminal from the battery then use a jumper to short the negative connector (not on the battery) to the Positive and leave it for 20 minutes. This resets all codes on the ECU. you could turn on the lights to help drain any voltage.
1) reconnect negative terminal on the battery.
2) turn key to on for about 5seconds
3) turn key to off
4) turn key to on for about 5 seconds
5) start engine and let it idle for 3minutes
6) turn engine off, wait 1 minute
7) start engine and let it idle for 3minutes
That should have relearned the throttle position.
Take it for a drive and run it at high way speeds and move through the gears and different idle speeds.

Any update on this? Going through a similar situation with my 2007 5.3. Surges/jerks on initial take off and usually about 75mph on the high way (1800-2200 RPMS). Eventually threw all the codes (2101, 1516), stabilitrak off, reduced power, etc. Did some research decided to start with cleaning throttle body, replacing TBPS, and used a scan tool to relearn idle. Seemed ok for a couple days until I got on the highway and the surging returned. My next options were replacing AAPS or the throttle body itself. After reading your post, I chose the latter. Did the install last night, just haven’t had a chance to drive it yet. I also cleaned/oiled my air filter so that needed time to dry

Wondering if replacing the throttle body fixed your problem?

Thanks for reporting back, will likely help someone else in the future.

The throttle body on my 2010 truck was replaced around 2017.. I'm not sure of the circumstances around it (prior to ownership) but maybe it is a relatively common issue.
