Traction Assist

Is there a difference between "Traction Assist" and "Locking Rear Differential"? I notice they are both listed on the window sticker on my new Avalanche as part of the Premium Suspension Package.

The way I understand it is that the locking rear diff is kind of like positraction where both rear wheels turn. The Traction Assist will cut the power to the wheel that is spinning.
