2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER .... For 2003, the Chevy TrailBlazer will offer The North Face Edition -- first introduced on the Chevy Avalanche last year -- and a Vortec 5300 5.3L V8 engine will be offered on the TrailBlazer EXT as an option. Both will offer an unequaled combination of strength, power and high-tech precision, wrapped in a design that evokes patented Chevy Truck toughness.
The North Face Edition package, available in both two- and four-wheel-drive TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT models, offers features such as lower accent-color body cladding, body-colored outside rear-view mirrors, running lamps, a liftgate luggage rack, headlamp washers, B-pillar badging and even a clothesline. The interior offers unique "The North Face" seats, mesh map pockets, rain-sense wipers, liftgate lighting, an underfloor storage cargo liner, heavy-duty floor/cargo mats, an adjustable cargo shelf with a table (EXT model only) and The North Face duffel bags and blanket. Several other features are required in order to get The North Face Edition Package, including blackwall tires, skid plates (4WD models), locking rear axle and heated seats.

This fall, the TrailBlazer EXT will offer an optional Vortec 5300 5.3L V8 - the first Vortec V8 featuring an aluminum block. It will deliver 290 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. That means a properly equipped TrailBlazer EXT can tow up to 7,200 pounds. The new V8 joins the Vortec 4200 4.2L I6, which combines advanced technology with the proven balance of an inline-six engine to offer power and smoothness, while providing excellent fuel efficiency. Both the Vortec 4200 and aluminum Vortec 5300 V8 are mated to GM?s proven Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission.

Four-wheel vented disc antilock brakes (ABS) are standard on the TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT, as well as dual-stage air bags for front seating positions and three-point restraint systems for all seating positions (including the middle rear). Side-impact air bags for front seating positions are also available. The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system has also been added to TrailBlazer EXT (second row seats, outboard positions) for 2003.

I don't know that I like the thought that a Trailblazer has more standard HP than my AV. ?Give us some optional engines now!
I don't have anything against the Trailblazer, but I'd like to have some beefier engines than on a mid-size SUV.

You can keep the clothsline. :-X

Wow, a V8 in a Trailblazer? Maybe the wife will NEED to get one of those to replace her Grand Am next March!

Jamie

Sounds good!

I would be satified with the 6.0L offered in most of the Caddies now.....making it a full 3 choice lineup... :B:

I will be checking them out when they bring their tour down to San Antonio on August 10 and 11. Maybe we'll have a little mini-Meet that day ;D

General Motors Launches Hispanic Grassroots Campaign In Support Of New Chevy TrailBlazer EXT

"Una Feria Sobre Ruedas" / "A Fair on Wheels", a family-oriented, five-city tour will allow Hispanic consumers to interact with the Chevy TrailBlazer EXT; Initiative is part of integrated Hispanic marketing campaign

Detroit, MI - Last week General Motors kicked off an integrated marketing campaign targeting Hispanic consumers for the Chevy TrailBlazer EXT. The campaign includes a grass-roots mall tour, "Una Feria Sobre Ruedas"/ "A Fair on Wheels," in five major Hispanic cities: Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Miami and San Antonio, as well as a strong advertising component.

The mall tour, "A Fair on Wheels," creates a fun, family-oriented environment where attendees can interact with GM products and services. The tour has a carnival theme featuring product showcases and games for the family such as Plinko, High Striker, Fortune Teller and Ring Toss. The Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT will be displayed. The venues also feature Spanish-speaking product specialists as well as informational materials from General Motors' partners GMAC and OnStar.

"A Fair on Wheels" kicked off on July 13 and 14 in the Puente Hills Mall in Los Angeles, CA, moved to the Ford City Mall in Chicago, IL on July 20 and 21,and will make stops July 26, 27 and 28 in the Jersey Gardens Mall near New York, NY; August 3 and 4 in the Dolphin Mall in Miami, FL; and August 10 and 11 in the South Park Mall in San Antonio, TX. These community grassroots events will be supported by local media buys in television, radio and print advertising as part of the launch of the Chevy TrailBlazer EXT campaign.

"The Hispanic market is a priority for General Motors. Our company is committed to bringing Hispanic consumers the best products and services, and to communicating with them in a culturally-relevant way," said Sonia Maria Green, Director, Diversity Marketing and Sales, Hispanic and Asian American Segments.

"This family-oriented promotion is part of that mission. Research has shown us that Hispanics are similar to general market consumers in that they want safe, top-quality, high-performance products. Where they differ is in purchase motivation," Green noted. "Hispanics buy based on what is best for their family. The TrailBlazer EXT mall tour is unique in that it provides product information to every member of the family in a family-friendly atmosphere."

The Chevy TrailBlazer EXT, the newest addition to the TrailBlazer product line, has more room than the original TrailBlazer, a feature that should be attractive to Hispanic consumers. Green commented that, "Hispanic households, which are generally larger than average, will enjoy the third-row seating which allows the TrailBlazer EXT to seat seven comfortably." In addition to providing additional seating, the third row seat can be folded down to create additional cargo space for transporting luggage or groceries, making it an ideal vehicle for the busy, modern Hispanic family.

"Another really exciting feature of this program is that it is a fully integrated campaign," said Green. "In addition to the grass-roots mall tour and television advertising, we have a community involvement and philanthropy component. As part of its dedication to the Hispanic community, General Motors commissioned a painting from Mexican artist Yolanda Garza Morales. The painting was made into a poster that will be sold at each mall tour destination with all proceeds going to the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund." The National Hispanic Scholarship fund has granted over 53,000 scholarships totaling more than $89 million to Hispanic students since 1975, making it the largest Hispanic scholarship granting organization in the U.S.

I thunk again so be careful....

This 5.3L engine with the aluminum stuff and 290Hp...how much lighter is it?

Now that would be a good option more HP and lose some girth around the hips... >:D....Hopefully they will have more engine options in the future.

I didn't think the "larger than average" household comment was necessary

Green commented that, "Hispanic households, which are generally larger than average, will enjoy the third-row seating which allows the TrailBlazer EXT to seat seven comfortably."

Not only is horsepower better but the TrailBlazer North Face has more North Face options/features. As for me that bought The North Face AV and paid more than I am sure the TrailBlazer will be...can't say I am happy. Not that I want a TrailBalzer, I love my AV and all it offers. But aren't you supposed to take care of the owners of more expensive vehicles first. Create some exclusiveness to a product? Also it seem like Chevy just brought out another vehicle that just competes with itself. The North Face Edition TrailBalzer with The North Face Av and the TrailBlazer EXt with the Tahoe. There can't be that many niches in the market. What they will do next just watch is come out with a smaller AV based on the TrailBlazer/S10. Just my thoughts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
As best I know The North Face Edition TrailBalzer will not be on tour, just the TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT. I actually bid on executing that tour but came in second. At that time it was a 10 city tour starting in April. If you get a chance I would love for you to get a roll of pics for my files. Always good to see what the competition is doing. I will reimburse you for a disposable camera or two. That goes for any one who has this tour in their city. One photographer per city please.

Doug aka snowlep

also any game pieces, cards, any support material. i am also trying to find out who is running the tour. damn i ask for alot don't I?

Better get used to our 5.3 in the smaller utes. In addition to them being available in the Trailblazer and Envoy (long versions), the aluminum 5.3 will also be available in the upcoming Buick Ranier. They've made a big deal about the fact that it will be the only short wheelbase mid-size GM SUV with it as an option. But for $40K they can keep it, my $30K Avalanche does just fine, thank you... That's why they invented supercharges, right gandolphxx? ;D

Every engine needs a supercharger >:D

This is getting to the point of absurdity, especially when you're talking $40K+ for a barely-mid sized SUV. But then again, I saw a Yukon on a dealer lot with a MSRP of $50K. Get real!
