Trailer Adapter Plug - 5 Wire Instead Of 4???

Anybody know where to get an adapter plug like the one that comes stock with vehicle that uses a 5 wire system instead of 4? I got a new boat/trailer and the wiring harness on it has a 5 plug instead of the usual 4. I can still plug up and use the 4 wire adapter to the vehicle. The fifth wire plug is for the brake lockouts. According to the boat dealer, it taps off the same circuit as the reverse lights. When it gets put into reverse and the reverse lights come on, it deactivates the trailers brakes to prevent them from braking while you are in reverse.

I didn't know if GM made a circular plug adapter for a 5-wire trailer harness, and if they do, what is the PN#??

Most RV places have them. You are correct, it taps into the reverse light which disengages the trailer brake. Before I found a 5 way truck plug I had a seperate wire from the reverse light that I would plug into the 5th prong on the trailer plug. An easy quick interim fix. Unlike the old drum trailer brakes the newer disc trailer brakes won't budge in reverse. They've got to be disengaged.

Does anybody know if there is a GM "factory" plug and if so what is the PN#? None of the WM's or Auto stores around here have the 7-5 adapters, and if I'm going to order one, I'd like to order it through Dal or GMpartsdirect...

GM does not. I've been down this road before. I went
and bought a 7 to 5 wire circular connector that will work
with the adapter on the back of the Av. Most major auto parts stores have them.

Saw one of these adapters in a Boaters World store in Monroeville, PA today. Do you have one of these store located near you? ???

Had a $6 or $7 price tag. :)

Should also be able to get one at a RV supply store or a U-Haul outlet.
