Im sorry about not being more specific with my post i have a 2004 z71 v8 4wd,There is no rust on truck inside or out.The motor has a 100,000 mile warrenty on it.I bought the motor from jasper motors and a professional mechanic shop put it in for me...it has some minor cosmetic things that need fixed....But I have another issue with this dang truck.I was driving down road came to stop light went to take off and it just wouldnt move in any gear so im like poop did i just blow my tranny up....but i checked fluid it didnt even read on dipstick so i put fluid in it and it moved just fine for about 3 blocks then came to stop sign and nothing again so i put another quart in it made it about same distance so i checked fluid again still said none in it.so i checked under truck after i put some in it and its leaking out of the dipstick where it goes in to tranny.its like not attatched to tranny anymore its super loose.isnt it supposed to be bolted down someplace so dipstick dont move..what do i got to do to fix dipstick so fluid dont leak no more.is it a easy fix.thanks and i hope i described it enough.

There is no seal there any more..Do the seals wear out normally over time.I have never spent so much money to keep my vehicles running.I have put into this truck now around 13,000 and thats more than i paid for it..But i really like my truck but dam shes exspensive...

I don't think they wear out but it may have been damaged when the engine was out.

I messed mine up when I removed whole transmission for rear main seal job.
Was extremely difficult to bend into place then bolt dipstick with a transmission mount bolt.
I have seal I purchased to replace one I damaged trying to get back on.
It takes alot of muscle & I should have had 2 extra hands other than mine.
It is easier if remove exhaust mine not much room to work and 4in body lift helps.
I don't envy you trying with less room, good luck.
