I bought an 07 Avalanche on 18 Dec 2011, the dealership Day Chevrolet  in Monroeville PA gave me a 30 day limited warranty. On feb 23 the tranny started slipping by the weekend no 2nd gear. On the 27th I took it to a local tranny repair shop. In the 2 days I was home waiting for my truck I discover that gm extended the power train warranty to 5 years 100k miles. When I got my truck back I sent an email on how disappointed I was of the problems I had since purchase. The service manage said I was out of luck because I failed to take it to a Chevy dealer. I contacted GM customer service and got pretty much the same answer. They are a bunch of scum bags. Any one have any suggestionss

YOu should have went to a CHEVY dealer first when it was broke.

Nothing they can do now as they have no idea if it was broke, how it broke, where it broke, etc etc..

Also the 5 years is from the original purchase date which has probably past.
2007 AVs started being sold mid 2006 so could be very close to 6 years ago.

What with the scum bags comment? Other than you probably should have already known that '07s have a 5/100 power train warranty, you did what I most likely have done. Taken it to an independent repair shop. If I found out after the fact it would have been covered, I would have kicked my own self in the butt for not paying attention. Probably what you should be doing instead of dissing other folk for your mistake. My suggestion would be to just get over it.

To all ye of little faith, let your nads drop and man up. They are reimbursing me for a bad caliper, a wheel bearing, and tranny parts. No labor. Its better than nothing. And yes I still believe they're scum bags. Its not like they haven't earned they're reputation. If it offends you don't be so righteous, it's not my fault you work at a stealership

Glad you got something back, by the way many members work at Dealerships and most times they will try to help you out.

i just replaced the transmission on my 07 avalanche also, right after the warranty expired at 110,000 km. NOT TOO HAPPY about it, since the tranny on my 02 needed to be replaced also, but at least i got 200,000 Km out of that one.
