trans go kit versus chip updates?

Anyone have solid opinions comparing a Predator/SC/
HTIII to installing an actual shift kit in the trans?

I'm wondering if just putting the shift kit in will
be a better long term mod to get the trans
to shift at higher RPM's with less overlap,
less duration, and less wear.

Is the computer mod achieving the same thing, or
just appearing to do so by adjusting things like
line pressure? I'm not familiar with the technology
yet, so am curious which is a better solution?

I am trying to eliminate what I feel to be pretty
cheesy transmission behavior (slow kick down,
slipping, slamming between lower gears, dead zones
coming off of stops, etc.)...

You tried the 3 0-60 runs yet?

That might give you the desired tranny behavior you want without spending bucks on the Hypertec, Superchps, or Predator. ;D

I haven't tried the trans go kit, but I have tried the 0-60 3 times and am using the HPPIII. My experience with the software-based techniques is that you can tell a change, but I don't think the magnitude of the change is that great. I would think that the trans go hardware change would provide a greater improvement, but I don't know that for sure.

Edit - I don't think the trans go kit will change your shift points though the way a software based change would. To get what you are wanting, you may need the trans go together with something to change the shift points. The HPPIII is made to work with a trans go or other shift kit installed. I believe, from memory, that it actually asks you if one is installed. If not, I do remember that the manual stated that if one is installed, then the programmer should leave the transmission shift firmness setting in the stock programmed configuration.
