Question for those that have a scanner that reads and reports on transmission temps. If you're interested in checking, what is the maximum temp that your report shows?

I ask because mine shows 303 degrees! Just wondering if that was possibly an actual reading or maybe just a max value the manufacturer presets.

I am the second owner of the Av. I know the original owner and she never towed with it (no hitch as long as she owned). The only thing I know that she did out of the ordinary was let it idle for long periods of time with the AC on cooling her dogs after a hike while she hung out talking all times of the year in northern VA (usually a few minutes but sometimes it could be up to 15 minuets).

I know that it was not during my use as I watch the trans temp when doing any towing (which is minimal) and I don't do much idling or other trans stressor activities (don't drive much actually).

Just curious, thanks...

I tried to look in my Foxwell NT520 scanner for a menu that would show maximum trans temp values but I couldn't find anything. I have a DTC screen (read/clear), Trans Data screen, Special Functions screen and then systems and about. Which menu and sub-menu are you in to see that kind of temperature?

There was nothing in my history log (maybe because no stored DTCs?) And I could only see current trans temp, not a maximum in the TCC data screen.

303 is pretty hot, so the only way i see that being an actual temp that your trans saw would be if it's a stored DTC.

Thanks, I don't remember where I saw it, I saw the other day when I was poking around to find that Passlock data (which is in the Body Control Module-live data area). I'll hook it up tomorrow and see where it is and let you know.

Well, figured it out, all is well in Av land, no overheated transmission. It seems that the 303 degrees is a setting from the Autel that is changeable. When you go to the live data, you can choose to show just the numbers, a graph or a gauge. On the gauge choice, you can set a slider for the minimum and maximum temp and that is where the 303.8 degrees came from.

I included the report shot where I saw it the other day, there is a second page with more data but nothing relevant to this.

BTW, the location on the Autel === Control unit > Powertrain > Live data > Transmission live
data > Transmission >

Have you tried Save[ing] the data? On the Autel, when you save the data it generates the report which seems to show a lot more information than what I can see on the currently viewed screen. Maybe a Save report will show the min/max temps?
