I have hauled a lot in my Avalanche and the bedmat no longer looks like new. Has anyone treated it with the same stuff you use for your tires? I don't want to get to fancy and will probley just pick something up at Autozone but I don't want it coming off on things I haul. Any ideas what to use to make the mat look new and not slick it up to much?

Hey Butch! Here is how to make that mat look factory new (AvaLance has seen this on my Av).

First, you should pull your mat every eight weeks or so and make sure there is no debris under it that could cause scratching.

Anyway, pull the mat out of your Av, it's easier to clean this way. You'll need Armor All All Purpose Cleaner AND Simply Green.

First, wet the mat down and hose off any large debris. Next, spray it down with the Armor All All Purpose Cleaner. Take a scrub brush with medium synthetic bristles (something you would clean a rim with) and scrub the whole mat down. Hose the mat off. The Armor All All Purpose Cleaner will leave a white haze on the mat.

Next, take the Simply Green and spray down the entire mat - 100% concentration. Again take the brush and scrub the mat down. Hose the mat down well until there are no more "soap" bubbles from the Simply Green.

Replace the mat in your Avalanche and allow to fully dry. If you have any white reisdue take some non-silicone based tire treatment and spray it lightly on a rag. Touch up those areas - any white haze should fade within 36 to 72 hours depending on temp and humidity.

The mat should look like the day you bought your Av. As I said - AvaLance saw this transformation on my ride. Best of all - the Armor All and Simply Green combined won't cost you more than $5 and you'll have about a 2 year supply!

Thanks Chief. I too have been experimenting with a few things. I don't haul a lot of stuff & my AV is still very new, but I have been a little disapointed at how quickly that mat can start looking bad. I tried murphey's oil soap & it did pretty well. I will try the stuff you suggested this next time, sounds like better results.

Thanks Chief, why do you say to use non-silicone based tire treatment? Is silicone hard on rubber? Here is what Trim Shine's site says:

Super rich silicone formula revitalizes while restoring a like-new look to tires, hard vinyl trim, rubber bumpers, dashboards, rubber and vinyl floor mats. Contains no water and works beautifully on any color trim.

I just wash mine with car wash soap and dry well.

After it was dry gave it a misting of Trim And Shine. Came out great

ALso used Trim and Shine on the tail gate gasket area
freshens the look up.

I have tried the simply green & brush cleaning scrub, too. It needed it after a trip dropping stuff off at the dump. The only thing I would add is a large push broom scrubber as bending over with a hand scrubber takes longer and is harder on your back.

With a push scrubber, I was able to thoughly clean it off.

Looks good as new. I did get only one small spot of white (about the size of my hand.) It came off with a scubb of the brush with out anything else other than clean water.

Treat bed mat like you do tires......

use same cleaners and same protectant....matt made from rubber......

Protectant will aloow some thing s to slide....
