I was trying to find product I can replace triangle tiedown parts with? I can't find what gm calls this part possibly will have to fabricate my own replacement.
Could try a roll cage design bolt with x3 built in nuts.
Photo of plastic triangles I want to change out.
Anyone know correct term for these & if any better products upgrades?

It appears to be a tie down but I also read in a description of the bed about a pair of grab handles to assist in getting into the bed. That angled open area does make a grab on point, but I need more help than this getting into the bed!

They call it "endgate assist handle" in the service manual but the part is just called "handle" in the catalog. Its primary purpose is as a grab handle to help step up into the bed but when GM got rid of the built-in step on the bumper in the second generation it lost some of its usefulness. Second purpose is as a tie down point.

Appreciate the information, I haven't had much luck finding alternative products to modify/improve. I did see a custom avalanche owner used that spot to anchor an off road bed rack it had :shovels, gas cans, wheel planks, chalks, Jack's, all kinds of off road equipment mounted.
I was hoping more products for sale that can fit that space but custom fabrication might be in near future.

There used to be some member here that custom made the grab handles out of metal and they looked like spider webs, he sold them on this site years ago but have not seen anything in recent years. Years ago the "3 Flag mount" was a popular item on sale here as well and many members had them for parades and GTGs (get togethers.)

I used the term custom grab handles and came up with 3 pages of posting about them.
This link has some photos of custom made ones. The maker hasn't been on this site since April of 2017 though.

That flag rack very close to how I'm thinking of modifying mine I might go higher about height of a full rack, then possibly running bars & see if can attach to roof rack.
Was also considering painting black plastic to match paint, painted my new driver's side fender & have some extra paint & clearcoat

When it comes to painting the cladding please read older threads about the amount of work needed to prep the plastic.
To prevent damaging the metal painted parts you need to remove the cladding (possibly breaking some of the clips doing so and needing more adhesive tape along with clips) , then many hours sanding to get the cladding smooth, then use a good quality plastic primer to get the paint to adhere and not flake off over time.
That is why many members who wanted painted cladding saved on the labor by buying late model AV smooth cladding or Cadillac EXT smooth cladding then swapping it out.

Ya repainting black fender proved more difficult than I expected. Turned out nicely but still having difficulty getting clear coat as smooth as needs to be before waxing & buffing. Dry sanding did ok but will need to try wet sanding process.
Should be ok to install on truck & polish whole thing can use wax & buffing.
It started black took x2 cans of 6packs I purchased
