I'm doing the Trimshine. Sprayed on an applicator and then wiped on. Smells like it has Ethyr (sp). It's pretty glossy, much moreso than the original appearance of the trim. Is this normal or does it need post-dry buffing???

Hound Here is more on Trim Shine

It is a little glossy/greasy. Haven't ever tried the post-dry buffing as I'm not offended by the gloss. I'm not so sure that it dries either. It is still somewhat greasy feeling days later...not so much so that it gets on you or anything, but I'm not sure if buffing will knock off the sheen b/c it seems to stay wet.

If it stays greasy/wet, doesn't it become a dirt magnet?

I bought this because I hit the fender flare on my WBH with a bit of wax and wanted to get it off. Someone mentioned trimshine. But before I was going to spread it all over the flares - only a month old - I thought I'ld try it on the sedan's black trim - 8 yrs. old. I'm not offended by the shine but its unnatural. The trim on this car was not shiny like this when new.

Just curious. Trying out some of the diff. products mentioned here. The clay bar worked better than I might have ever imagined. I was really surprised by that!

re: the wax...products like trimshine won't remove, only cover. The wax will eventually show back up. You will need to get the wax off of the cladding, which can be tricky. I have used a toothbrush with dishsoap. Simple Green has worked for me, too. I've even heard that peanut butter will remove wax.

A tip for waxing next time that I have learned: use blue painter's tape to cover the cladding (y)

Good luck finding that perfect product for your cladding :)

I taped it before I waxed it. Somehow I managed to get a small bit of was on the flares anyway. Nothing serious. Small spot or two. But would be better without. Maybe I'll try that simple green.

be careful with it. Although I've never had a problem with it, even at full strength, some have said to be careful with it. If it is only a little, I'm certain that a toothbrush and dish soap will work.

:)

I buffed out the trimshine a bit. Much better. Took away some of the gloss. Let it "dry" overnight and then just wiped it with a heavy duty paper towel.
