Tuners - need to disable AFM

Well...a gas hog will always be a gas hog............13.6mpg with the Range AFM disabler on..cost me $62 to fill up.. Sorry Folks but This truck will have a short life span with me... Nice truck..lots of bells and whistles but I don't need a full-size truck(If you can call the Avalanche a full-size truck) but it has a full-sized drinking problem:)
What I need is a small hauler for yard stuff...food...cooler.. Will be checking out the New Maverick(Not a Ford Guy But....40mpg city) and the Hyundai Santa Cruz...as soon as they hit the street... I grew up a GM guy but with this new technology basically, all the stuff is the same...everything you can't work on...They are mostly different by looks a Ford looks like a Ford...Chevy looks like a chevy... At this point in my life I'm looking for my last truck/pickup and I don't want something that has problems all the time... I want a Warranty...My days under a car or truck are gone plus everything I know is old school....265ci...283ci...327...350...400....305...307 396...454... I grew up with carburators lol.. I have too many other projects to take the time to learn how to keep this avalanche running and I don't like walking.. This is a great Forum. and I will be here for a few more months until the two mini-truck hit the street and I buy one...But until then let the good times roll...................

Hi All. Have an 08 5.3L, and just blew a lifter. That was an EXPENSIVE fix, and I understand it's realted to AFM. I know I can buy an OBD2 plugin to keep it disabled, but I don't drive much, and sounds like it would be a combo of dead battery or forgetting to plug it in.

Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards HP Tuners, but I'm having a real time trying to figure out what to buy from them.

Here's all the options I've seen so far.. with price.

Thanks all.
I bought the Range Technology module and I’ve had it 8+ months. No issues, haven’t had to add one drop off oil since installing. Compared to 3-4 between oil changes in past. Highly recommend.

I'll answer my own question...Since I just got a Range..... With being in 5th it doesn't shift up when you get your speed up in town...Like 40-45 mph But with the Range It shifts up and is showing better mpg through the computer...in real life we will see..I just filled it up and plugged in the Range.
But at least I'm hitting 6th gear now and not stuck at 5th Should have better mpg...?
Just ordered one today. I remember looking into them a couple years after I got my truck in 2012. But then Im like $200, Ill just using M mode. Now after 10 years, Im tired of always picking M mode, etc. Also, I was talked out of one and told, just get a tuner. Which I researched, got busy, and then 7 years passed :) I hope it does what I hope it does. I have no issues probably due to being a pussy to my truck, regular maintenance and synthetic oil changes as soon as it hits 20% on the computer, which is 2 oil changes a year. I have 175K on the truck, and while no issues so far, the V4 shudder and the tranny shifting while in V4, have always bothered me.

I assume doing this with a disabler, cant be any different than me doing it manually all these years. I mean its a V8 truck, what harm can it be to keep it V8 100% of the time
