I finally finished it. My bed extension allows me to haul both my full size Polaris ATV's in the back of my Av. One is a '95 Sportsman 400, the other is a '96 Explorer 300. The 300 is loaded first. It has to be backed in and the rear end compressed a little with a tie down in order to clear the interior roof of the Av.

Now this is just a thought, ?and I've done this in a pickup but not the AV.

Why not pull the 1st ATV in, then Pull the second one in and put the Front tires on the back rack of the first.

I don't know if you could that with the av, but if you could it wouldn't hang out as far.

But your idea is awesome!! ? ;D ?

Here it is with the ramps. I used an off the shelf 18" reciever extension. It is rated at 350 pounds. I cut the top of it open for a verticle 2" square bar that runs up to two angle irons. They run accross to the 2x12 ramps. Both of the connections to the 2" square bar are made with standard 5/8" hitch pins. ?A piece of .136" thick round tubing goes accross where the tailgate normally hooks up.
Notice the tie downs on each side for stability.

I knew this would be a hot thread. Two posts before I even finished all the pics!

Here is the last one, a view from the back. It looks like a freeway! Not such a good pic.

I remove the push pins and two rubber gutter collectors at the end of the hard cover gutters because the big tires mangle them while loading.

The Ramps!! The Ramps, I really like them. Most are too steep when on the Av, but those are great. (y)

First: It looks great. Two AV in loaded in the bed.

Second: The most Important, Is it legal?

I would hate to get pulled over by a local or state cop.

Depending upon your state laws, if it extends xx inches, you need to put trailer lights on it. They cost about $20-$50 a pair and can be found at most auto parts store, Wal Mart, etc...

In California, if it sticks out more than 48" then you need to put a red flag on it. This only sticks out 42". The tail lights are plenty visible. I am going to take my chances with the law.

Wow...great idea!

Now if I'd only looked at this post before buying a trailer to haul our two quads! UGH!! :6:

Oh well!

Wow, my X made a meatloaf that would tip the whole front of the truck right up.  Poppin' wheelies all over the place >:D >:D

Looks like a cool concept.... stong, secure, NICE

when you post a reply there are the YABBC tag buttons. Use the Image button (2nd row - 5th one from the left) to inset an image into your post.... works really well
