Hi guys. I have a new Summit White Z66 in the driveway, and I have some new Z66 decals along with some other addt'l decals on the way from TribalAv.

I was wondering, what is the best method for removing the Z66 decals and any glue residue remaining on the paint?

Also, my decals are not here yet, and I was planning to Zaino my Av this weekend. Will the decals stick to the Zaino'd surface, or should I wait until the decals are installed for the Zaino treatment?

Thanks in advance for the help.

 :B:

Do the decals first, then the Zaino.
I just waited for a good , hot , Florida day, and the stickers peeled right off. If isn't hot enough where you are, use a hairdryer to heat them up. Then, when you wash the truck with Dawn,as you should before Zaino, it will clean the area just fine.So....

1) Remove stickers
2) Wash AV with Dawn
3) Install new stickers
4) then Zaino
5) Enjoy

Good luck, let me know if you need more (y)

use a blow dryer to remove the decals. It was blazing hot outside when I removed mine, so that may work as well..just make sure the sun is shining directly on the decal..should peel off with no residue.. :B:

to remove the old decals i would use a heat gun. this will soften the sticker and adhesive. if you try to pull it off any other way the sticker will break into pieces. it will take forever to get it off. if you heat it up and pull the edge slowly it will work better. you just heat up a little section at a time and pull a little more until it is off. any adhesive residue left behind can be remove with a citrus adhesive remover. you can find this in the auto part stores. it will also remove any wax, or oily, build up that would keep the new stickers from adhering correctly. i would wait on the Zaino until i have the stickers on.
remember to move the heat gun in a back and forth motion. put the heat setting on medium if it is adjustable. if not, be sure not to hold the gun in one place too long. watch your fingers too.

CLAY bAR TYHE SURFACE OF THE TRUCK BEFORE THE zAINO TREATMENT .. THE DIFFERENCE IS AMAZING .. cLAY BAR WILL GIVE YOU A NICE SMOOTH SURFACE TO APPLY THE WAX .. Any clay bar will work!! HTH

Thanks for the tips guys. I got the Z66 decals off with the hair dryer, but they left a glue residue several mils thick on the fender. :6: I tried bug and tar remover, bumper sticker remover and neither would cut the residue. I went to the parts store and bought a $9 + dollar  can of "3M Adhesive Remover" to try, and after about an hour of patient wetting with the 3M stuff and gentle persuasion with the edge of an old credit card managed to get all the glue residue off. It kind of scraped off in layers as it softened up. There is no way it could be "wiped off" like everyone said. They must be using some more powerful stuff than ya'll had to deal with. BTW, the paint is clean and shiny with no evidence of residue to the naked eye in bright sunlight, but if you spray the 3M stuff on there, you can still see the edges/ outline of the Z66 decal. I even clayed the area and you can still see the outline. Is this an uneven area of paint curing or something?

Anyway, my new decals should be here early this week, and I'll get them on and do the Zaino after than. ;D

I have seen this before on another Av. It was an Indigo Blue '02.
Early morning (after parked outside overnight) in the dew on the paint I could see the outline of the original Z71 decal.
I'm not sure if there is anything you can do to avoid this "shadow" of it's former self.
