I had the Whipple SC installed about 2 weeks ago. ?Prior to the install I had a vibration/squeak/creak in my gas pedal. Kind of annoying. Did not know if i needed to oil the thing or what
?
Told the guys installing the whipple to check it out. They said they could not notice anything but in hindsight I would say they never looked at it. (Side note, when someone forgets to do something I wish they would just tell me instead ofblowing smoke up my dress
? Once the Whipple was installed the problem was greatly exaggerated. ?It was so bad that driving was a pain, a constant grinding/squeaking every time you press or relaeased the gas pedal, even a fraction.
Long story short, two things had to be done.
The upper pulley on the belt was defective. you could see from the wear pattern that it was spinning more oblong than round. This was a factory OEM item, nothing to do with the whipple. The whipple just took that vibration to a whole new place.
The whipple was transferring a strong vibration to the acc cable. Whipple knows that this is a problem with the 5.3 and are supposed to be shipping unit with an updated cable that has a rubber contect to remove some of this vibration.. Mine did not and it took them 2 weeks to ship a replacement ?
Replacing the pulley and the cable helped a great deal. The guys then put some foam around other parts of the cable.
There is still some vibration when you first hit the pedal but no big deal. This is just part of having a super charger. Much happier now with the set up.
