'lance,

i've had the Wagners in since october ( couldn't find GE's around here ) and I have to agree with your pics - it seems that they fill the road all the way to your lowbeams and I haven't seen any signs of meltdown or discoloration.

Good move!

Jake

Pictures don't do the difference justice. You have to see them in person. Since stock is 28 watts or so and the 885's are 50 watts, you are doubling the output and the difference is very clear.

Here is a pic of mine...

sorry about the typo--it should have read 50 watts (not 885!)

Can't beat that mod. Double the ouput of your lights for less than $15 (at Wal Mart) and only takes about 15 minutes to install.

Here is a comparison of the 2 bulbs...

Well I am going on a cruise this weekend and in order for me to leave I have to drive over a mountian pass and ever day last week it has been foggy I hope it will be so I can test out the fogs I will up date on how they work in fog

Does the hotter bulb keep the condensation from fogging up the fogs lights? I would think that the extra heat should help keep them dry. Is this true?

UPDATE PICS ok these are not the best pics but here are some more

PIC this pic is just my head lamps on (no foggs on yet)

I've seen the GE's and Sylvania 885s & 893s and they make a hugh difference. I bought some 50 watt Xenon fogs from www.eurolamps.com and they are totally awesome! With them (adjusted up of course) and the Silverstar low beam on, it is brighter than driving with my Silverstar High beams on!

hey macman,
which ones did you get? i saw about 3 different styles

I actually bought three sets, but paid for one. I bought the yellow ion 37.5 watts, and the Xenon 37.5 watters. Then I asked them for the 50 watt Xenon bulbs which just blew me away! They don't normally stock the 50 watt bulbs. While I really like them, I'd probably replace them with the GEs from Wal Mart if they blew. At $4.95 a set, you can't beat Sam's price!

You just can't beat the 885 GE's at Wal Mart for the price. BTW, the original stock bulbs are also GE. I forgot about adjusting them. In the stock position, they are throwing the lights down very low. A bit of a tilt up and they should put down a solid 100 watts down the road. Combined with the stock low beams and you are looking at 200 watts of halogen power to light up the night.

You can spend hundreds $s more and still not match this output. Excellent mod for the money. A little fine tuning and you have instant daylight.

IMHO hq is entirely correct. I responded to the HID GB with the same comment. For $50.00 you can buy Silverstar lows, 885 fogs adjusted upward and have more light than your high beams, plus have a wider dispersion of light. It is like daylite when driving!

Now, I am an economics major but just forget that for a minute..... $50.00 verus $350+ for HID....what is the best deal?

Might take some thought! By the way, I love this board!

Just went to my local walmart and they didnt have GE 885 but i got sylvania instead, should be about the same right? ???

Ok, for $50.00 it is a great upgrade. I had been running SilverStars and 55 watt fogs until I converted to HID. They were great. BUT, after I put in the HID, you can not even tell if your fogs are on or not. Even with the highs on you do not see a difference. Granted HID is an expensive upgrade, but if you end up doing it you will see it is worth every penny.

Are the bulbs you are speaking of blue tinted? I have 55 watt fogs bought off Ebay and they now look yellow compared to the HID. I need something that is brighter white. Not that I am looking for the lighting, just the look of the front end when all lights are on. I had to take out the Silerstars because they looked real yellow and found a 100 watt or something bluer tinted bulb and it looks better.
