Upshifts/Downshifts on 2wd Z66

I have been driving a 4WD Z71 crew cab Silverado for the past week which has the same 5.3 engine and 3.73 rear as my 2003 Z66. I assume they are within a couple of hundred lbs of each other.

However the Silverado runs like a raped ape vs my AV. When curising at any speed in the silverado even a slight increase in accelerator produces a quick downshift. In the AV Much of time I cannot get this to happen without putting the pedal into the floorboard., similarily I find that when slowing for a corner upon accelerating the AV doesnt seem to downshift to the appropriate gear and again you need to bury the pedal to get the kick down. No such problem with the Silverado

Is this due to driveby wire in the 2wd z66? Anyone know of a fix that does not require me to buy a tuner? I want to bring this up at the dealer, as the AV has never seemed to tow my hybrid camper very well. This weeks drive in the Silverado has proved to me that my truck is screwed up!

I went from a 4.8 '99 x-cab to a 5.3 '01 x-cab to the Av. And yes even the 4.8 would run circles around the Av. (although much bigger circles) It's all in the weight, which is significant. Can't commment on the shifting, other than I don't find too much difference there.

I believe the Difference is about 1000lbs different. 11H Put an X-Cab and then His Av on a Truck Scale and that was the claimed difference.

Are you running the Av in Tow/Haul Mode?

Yea, I always use the tow haul mode, but the 1 to 2 shift still lags and I dont get the downshifts when they would help acceleration and the upshifts come way too soon. I could shift it manually but I hate the feeling of having to do the work the truck is supposed to be doing for me.

Why do I have to spend $ on a tuner to get it right?
