Long story short, I am getting out of my 03 Av into a more fully loaded 04.
After doing the inital paperwork, the dealer couldn't get either of the Avs he had showing up that I did the deal on.

There is a very limited supply of Avs with cladding here in Canada for some reason. When the main guy at the dealership heard my salesman's prediciment (he had another guy who wanted a cladded Av like me....and my family and I have purchased 5 cars from the same dealer in the last year) he got on the horn to GM, and they are making it a priority to get it built from scratch....it will take 6 weeks, but I get all the rebates and discounts and terms of my deal.

As this is likely to be my dream Av, and likley the only vehicle I'll ever be able to order from scratch from the factory (while still getting a discounts like I am getting one off the lot), just wondering if there is anything that one can order from the factory, that isn't advertised on the website, in Canada or the US.

Of course, things like XM radio aren't available in Canada...but are there things that can get put on from the factory that maybe isn't usually available, or ordered by the dealers usually. (painted cladding...I can dream, can't I).

Any advice would be appreciated....I have to order it tomorrow morning.

Well, it is on the website, etc. But, leather heated seats is a must.

If this is your dream Av then get it loaded! Get it all! I don't think you can do anything "special" from the factory.

I hear you,
I have my dealer trying to locate a loaded Z66 without leather and it is basically impossible to find one in Ontario. I am ready to sign on an '04 pending location of vehicle.

I just might have to factory order, as I have heard there is an additional rebate programme coming to play in March  but I have yet to hear details :E:

Good luck on finding an suitable Av (y)

I ordered my 04 3 weeks ago. The salesman could not find one to my specs. in the state of CA. But, he told me that if GM does not start the build process by April 29 when the rebate ends, I am not going to get the rebate. I would get what ever the rebate is, if any, at that time. I can't pay for the car until a VIN number is generated. So, I sit here and wait and hope that I get the call that the build process has started. :6:

I ordered my 03 last year and was told '6 weeks.' Four months later, it arrived at the dealership. What g935 said is what I was told. The incentives are based on the arrival date OR once they have a VIN, at your option. It is sort of a game you will have to play--guess whether the future rebates are going to be better than the current. I waited until it arrived at the dealer and got the best rebate possible. I actually saved an additional $1500 versus buying one off the lot on the day I ordered mine. My experience last year was, each successive month through the rest of the model year, the incentives were equal to or better than the previous month. Obviously there is no guarantee, but it worked out for me. Best of luck.

Thanks for the help...

I was hoping someone would say that they'll gladly customize it down there in that Mexican plant with an Escalade EXT cluster, drop in the EXT 6.0L, 20" wheels/tires etc, for just a marginal price increase, with all those parts just collecting dust down there anyway. ;)

I'll have to clear it up with the sales person, but because the deal was written up, he assured me that, straight from GM, that the rebates and incentives that I had going on this deal would be honored whenever the brand new vehicle arrived....but I will ask, if I can get the better of the deals...the one I have now, or, the rebates/programs going on when my Av actually hits the dealer in 4-6+ weeks. It looks like it would be at least April, so who knows what will be going on.

This also allows me time in order to sell/have someone take over my lease....by the sounds that there are few DGM/Black cladded Avs around here, my DGM may be more attractive then I thought.

XM has plans for Canada; I'd look into it and if you want it - insist! (They may not be able to give you the free subscription but at least you'll have the hardware if & when it happens.)
Otherwise, get the DAB at least; the cabling MAY be the same where you only (I hope) have to change out the module and reprogram.
OnStar should be available in Canada; at least they have a Canadian coverage map...

I'd like to hear what they say about it all...

Good Luck!
