With something so busy, one will be hard pressed to see anything other than a muddle of color and print when driving past. The most successful logos are simple. Think of Coke, Pepsi, Apple computer, eBay... etc. Something that will pop out grab the passerby. Easy to scan, quick to read, that type of thing.
Out of curiousity, what's with the shape? Is there a reason for that or just something that was tried?
Something that was tried ( I'm not the author ).
Everyone is doing round, everyone is doing the state as the center peice for their logo. Something different is good.
For busy and the colors, the placement ( IMHO ) of the colors is fine, and makes it distinctive and recognizable due to it's shape, even at a quick glance.
Ebay is a 4 color 4 letter logo.
Coke's thing is really about the red color in itself.
Pepsi has a three color bottle cap.
Apple is an apple ( not overly original ) but they have had multi-colored ones. This was about shape.
I think a blending of shape and color, not just one or the other makes it more destinctive.
You really don't want the SOM nation mad at you, do you?
Does anyone have access to .jpg versions or clip art of the AV alphabet? I have very crude programs to work with, so I can't say I'm going to come up with much of anything, but I'll enjoy trying.
Not bad, I like the 2nd one myself. One of the firemen here at my station, his wife works with graphic designs, maybe cut us a deal. She got us real nice 6" lettering for our front bay doors.
I like number 2... the funky "tails" on the lower lettering of number one is a bit much. If that slope were stretched out a bit, it might be better.
I like ChevA's logo, except for the size of the lettering. Avalanche should be bigger, IMO... after all, my truck is more important than the Commonwealth!
