Volant Cold Air Intake

The Volant is a nice closed box system, it drops into the 5.3L [1500] - also has an 8.1L [2500, think Silverado HD]. Thet don't seem to be as popular as some others, check FIPK in search.

BTW; why not take a few minutes and register, join the club and your posts will be searchable. ;D

If I'm not mistaken..gains are very similiar..to what you would get with an K&n Fipk........If anyone were to ask my personnel opinion..I would say to go with either the one mentioned above or the UPD....

At least we have owners that will vouch for there performance.....which is always nice.. ;D

Not Yet gandolphxx..., Im not sure I like the idea of where it picks up from.., under the front bumper, by the passengers side front tire.., afraid of water spray getting into it..., Im looking at a different pick-up point.., side of the front grill.., with a screen for bugs, that I can clean in the summer months......

I know what your talking about Butch...I used to have the Iceman cold air intake on the talon...the system ran right to the very bottom of the spoiler....one night on my way to work...after a nice thunderstorm.....I wasn't able to see this ocean that was created on the fast lane of the highway....to make a long story short I plowed right into it....needless to say I managed to mantain control, but felt the car wanting to die on me because of all the water that must have gone in through the intake.....nothing like a water-logged engine to start the night.... :(

The best intake would be at the hood level, requires a new hood, so far not many available, if any. :7:

Hey NJAV...this is a tough question to answer, but I'm going to ask it anyway >:D
How loud is the K&N FIPK? I would like the performance increase, and the old four-barrel sound is fine with me, especially when the light goes green. But when I'm cruising for hours at a time on the highway, well, I'm getting older now so I guess I like a little peace and quiet too ;D
What's it like on the highway? Don't even know it's there, can't forget it's there, or somewhere in the middle...?

Hey RV8Pilot,

I've got the K&N FIPK Generation II (full kit) and you don't notice a thing while cruising down the highway. I hear it most around town when I really jump on the gas.
When I have other people in the car, I can moderate the gas so that you don't even hear it or notice it.
(it's much more fun after I drop them off) >:D >:D >:D
