Volume Level Of Warning Bell

Maybe its just me but when I get in my AV, the warning bell is incredibly loud and piercing.
Its fine when its telling me that my fuel is low, maybe because its just one or two chimes, but when the engine is running and a door is open, I almost need ear plugs.

Its deafening (sp?) :8:

I guess I just have sensitive hearing. how can this be fixed????????

I agree. One of the few gripes I have about my AV. :8: Am going to work this problem this weekend and will report back with a proposed fix. :0:

The guys at the Car Wash I frequent complain about the loudness too. They say it is the loudest that they have ever heard. GM's reasoning behind making it so loud seems to revolve around the sound dampening characteristics of the truck. Any less volume and you might not hear the warning when your door was ajar and you tried to lock it on exit.

OH MY GOD!!! I thought I was the only one. In my old Tahoe it had a fuse just for the "sirun", but not here. I've pulled every single fuse looking for it, but NOPE, there was'nt one. :8:

Chime when you're low on fuel? Really? Mine only chimes when I have a door open or something like that. And it's not that loud either.... Normal compared to other cars I've driven.

Yes would some one please find a fix for this. My moms '03 tahoe z71 is damn loud and very annoying. I tried looking for the BCM and clipping the green wire in connector pin b9 like I did my AV but it is completely diffirent in the tahoe.

There was a post on this. Cant find it. Skidd, somebody can you locate this. I notice that it is loud!

Thanks guys, its been a while since ive checked back on this and this is exactly what Ive been looking for.

There is defintely a chime when the low fuel light comes on. Dont know about the 02's but the 03's have not only a light but a chime as well. I guess to let you know the light is on. ;D ;D.

It comes on with about 30 miles left when your display is on "range" After that instead of it saying you have ?? miles left it just says "low". I think that this is somewhat funny since GM is probably implying a " we told you so" in the event you run out of gas. >:D >:D .

Later guys.

Today I was travelling some country roads I heard the chime go off, I was expecting to see a low fuel light message, instead it said "turn signal on" it actually told me my signal was left on..Of course I had to try again, and it didn't seem to work every time, sometimes sooner than others and sometimes not at all. There must be conditions with that one.

Here is a Mod that will work on '03s with Bose 6 Disc systems to reduce the volume of the warning bell. With the AV running and the stereo turned off, press and hold the "6" for your disc player. After about 4 seconds it will switch your volume from "Loud Chime" to "Normal Chime". Repeat the process to switch back. (y)

I found this by accident while playing around in the AV waiting for my son's ball practice to finish.

It works! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

The "chime-from-hell" has been driving me crazy! (Not enough to loose the low-gas warning and other important chimes by cutting the green wire.)

One clarification: The engine doesn't need to be running to do this, but the ignition needs to be in the "run" position. (Make sure the radio is off, or you'll overwrite the number 6 radio location.)

Is this club great or what? ;)

I'll try this on the SS today, hopefully it will do the same.

The 6 button worked though mine was already "Normal" wish they had a "soft" level or something.

My sentiments exactly.

It all runs through the stock radio and driver's door speaker. That is why it seems to be so loud. You can unplug the wire menioned in previous post. One caution!! if you unplug the wire you loose the no-lock out feature on trucks with power door locks.
