I was trying to install a switch so my passenger can use the nav unit to search for places to stop when on a trip. I tapped into the green/white wire at cluster A4 and when driving I flip the switch to see if I can use the nav while moving and when I flipped it the speedo when to zero. So any help would be very helpful. I also noticed that there are three green/white wires coming from the cluster. I have heard some many wire colors, white, purple, green. I don't which one.

I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado with bose (non lux) and have XM, ONSTAR. Thanks guys

... and I was thinking Visual Source Safe... EEEEEEEEEEEEEK  wrong forum!!!

Wish I had your answer.

It sounds to me as your switch wasn't wired correctly.

05's are already wired with the VSS at "E" of connector 2 behind the head unit. (Same green with a white tracer wire color.) All, as you see in the diagram ItsStopher provided above.

You interupt that connection with your switch instead of the speedo connection to the VSS. (Restore your speedo wiring.)

Good luck! :)

Thanks Guys, I decided to do it behind the radio on the 12 pin and the green wire and it worked, YEA!!!!
Now I wish I wouldn't have cut up the wires behind by cluster, oh well

I'm having the same problem. the 24pin connector at the head unit has a dark green/white wire. is this it,or is it pupposed to be on the little connector 12pin ( mine only has 2 wires in it) none of which is green and white.. thanks for your help

The dark green and white on the 24 pin connector is the Left Rear Low Level Audio Signal (-)

Hey ItsStopher,
What is the VSS color wire for a 2003 Av and where is the easiest location for it. :help:

03 is the same as 05 on the cluster and the radio connector. If you have a Y91 radio then it would be easier th get it at the radio connector but the cluster is not really any harder (just 4 more screws)

Hey ItsStopher, you seem to be really smart at all this.. maybe you can help(im sure you can) IM about to install the 15800000 into my 2006 silverado.  My truck current has the UQ7 Rpo code and has the bose, xm, onstar, rear entertainment/dvd... i have read that my truck should have the vss wire already.. is this true?  and if so can you tell me what it looks like and where it is?  From what ive read, i think it should be green with white tracer...

and also, if i wanted to make the switch to kill it, can you tell me how or give me the link to where it explains?

Thanks so much man, i really need some help

I only have schematics for up to 05 silve... but the 05 silve looks like VSS is sent through the class 2 data line, you would not want to kill the data line.....
