I need help!!
Bought the Waag one piece brush guard for my 1500 Av. It came in the mail today ;D and after I started to install it I realized the picture quality of my instruction sheet sucked! :7: The sheet must have been tenth generation copy it was so bad! :8: I phoned Waag and they emailed me new instructions. When I openned the email, NO PICS!! Only written part! :8: :8: By the time I found out, they were closed for the weekend!! My Av is half apart and I can't figure out where the brackets go. :8:

I'm not exactly a novice at this, I've been working on cars since I was 12, and have good fabrication skills, but this looks like maybe a manufacturing mistake. ??? The upper heavy brackets won't fit level on the bumper/frame mount. It seems like it's 1/4" to 3/8" too wide, and I have to shim it almost 3/8" up to clear the bumper bracket lip. Has any one else had this problem??
??? ???
Please post pics, your clear instruction sheets, or anything else that might help me. If you would prefer to email me, I am at carnut@adelphia.net . :C:

Thanx. Paul. :B:

I have a two piece guard i noticed the mounts you are talking about were the same way i just bolted them down then installed the upper grill brackets make sure that you make sure on the lower brkts left is on the left and right on right it will save a lot of time not like me wasted an hour to figure it out i hope this helps

Carnut,
If you are online, I can help. I installed the guards myself & think I can help you. Either reply by post or e-mail, and we'll work it out.

p.s.
check my signature link, maybe some pics there will help you

Well, I got it on, but I'm not very happy with the experience. :7: It looks good, ;D my 22 year old daughter said that it makes the truck look "mean" and want to know if I'm going to put on "those devil horns" next. >:D She means the twin exhaust stacks on 18-wheelers. Well, here's the scoop.
:7: :7:
1. Instructions recieved was one page long, front and back. Seemed like there should have been a second page of photos. The photos on the instructions were washed out or black blobs. Very difficult to see details. :8:
2. When I called Waag, they emailed me directions three times. To two days later I have only rec'd the one copy, and it was one side only, no photos. They are closed all weekend. Web site has no online tech support or download of instructions. :8:
3. The upper frame bracket, a J-shaped piece, did not sit flush to the frame and had to be shimmed up 3/8" to clear frame contour. :7:
4. Lower frame mount tabs for the brush bar are very close to the inside edge of the cladding. Hard to get bolts in, and bolt threads hit cladding when tight. Cannot insert bolts the other direction because not enough clearance between cladding and tab. :7:

So, while Waag makes a good looking product, I think that they need to re-evaluate their documentation and take another look at how well it fits on the Av. Especially the upper frame mounts. Would I buy it again to put on another Av? Yeah, I like its looks, but I think I'll get some 3/8" plate steel and make better shims with a wider footprint. :B:
