It may kill me, but I am holding out for the 2003. Dealers says will see it first of August.

:-X

It will be interesting to see what the 2003 has to offer! So far, I've no complaints with my 2002, and haven't seen any 2003 rumors that make me even begin to wish that I'd waited!

So . . when the 2003's become available - each of us can make their own assessment. Who knows - you might just like the 2002's better and could get a really good deal at model closeout!

Now if they'd offer the Av with a manual tranny, I just might have to rethink my previous comment ;D

Same here....If I wasn't a fan of the cladding then I guess I could have a reason for excitement....but since the cladding gets 2 thumbs up from me....everything else are just addons.....

Just have to wait and see what the new model year will bring...

A lot of posts here have said that GM is doing away with the Cladding to save money. Is GM going to offer it as an option? If not, how hard will it be for us in the future to replace the cladding if something goes wrong with one of ours?

Here is what Car and Driver is saying about the 2003 GM Truck Line up. Unlike how they promised, there were no pics.

"Avalanche hits Chevy trucks:
Below are the first official photographs of the 2003 full-size GM trucks. The Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban ditch their conservative styling in favor of the Chevy Avalanche look—thankfully, without the Avalanche's obsession with plastic cladding. The front end is dominated by a horizontal chrome strip that bisects the headlights and turn signals and spans a larger front grille. The GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL get slightly angular nose jobs. All '03 models also sport a new instrument cluster and other interior upgrades. Quadrasteer, the four-wheel-steering system introduced on the '02 GMC Sierra Denali, will be available on heavy-duty pickups and heavy-duty Suburbans and Yukon XLs."

Even if Chevy was to completely de-clad the Av...they are obligated to keep an inventory of parts for a certain period of time in the event these parts are to be replaced.....so I wouldn't worry too much about the cladding not being available for replacement...
