I just received instructions for mounting Warn Front Receiver for '02/'03 1500 AV. PN#66215. It's a word doc with pictures.

Looks like mounting bracket holes need be to drilled in the frame, and an opening in the front bumper cladding needs to be made to accommodate the receiver receptacle.

Warn Front Receiver Mounting Instructions

If you don't have any web space, email it to me and I will upload the file and post the link :) ;D

I got this on 6/19/03 from Ben@Stealthoffroad.com

"Sorry for the delay. We had a bit of a shake-up on this product. Instead of manufacturing it, we are going to stock the WARN front receiver kit (WARN just came out w/ the part # after claiming for months that they weren't going to). We have them available right now at $179, but due to this change, pics have been delayed. If we can do anything for you on this item, please let us know."

Do you think you could get this front receiver mount AND a brush guard on at the same time without losing your tow hooks? That's an awful lot to mount in one spot.

well I have the brush guard on already so I was looking REALLY closely at the instructions, two things come to mind - the tow hooks thing got my attention AND the cut out area might be covered with additional plastic from the guard, which has its own cladding. I have to go out and check the area they have scribed for the cut out.

Thanks jackalanche, but I wasn't even thinking about the factory guard... I guess think more along the lines of a WAAG or T&H or someother aftermarket.
1. Which guards would allow this receiver + guard + towhooks to all mount to the same location?
2. Which guards can be mounted without interfering with this new receiver? Most aftermarket guards have some sort of a crossbar at about that location.

Actually, I suppose if you had to lose your towhooks it wouldn't be that bad since you could then slip in a receiver mounted tow hook when necessary.

Also, how strong are these kits?

I think a lot of us have been waiting for this. I am glad they finally did it. One less reason to replace the whole bumper. I really like the new bumpers, they increase the approach angle a lot and bigger tires are nice. It is just so expensive. For us recreational offroaders, this is just the ticket. Especially for those of us that already have a winch in a receiver mount. Gonna see what my dealer is going to charge to install it on Monday.

Thought you guys might like a look at the WARN front rec. hitch kit for AV 1500s. It's nearly identical to the 99+ truck kit, which means you have to drill four 7/16" holes in the frame. Not too bad a job if you have a sharp drill. I'd guess that a driveway install would take about 2 to 2.5 hrs.

Thanks for pics of the kit... where'd you get it? Or are you a dealer?

This has been discussed already... perhaps a moderator could combine this thread...

Rewbob-

Ooops, sorry -yep, these should be the same thread. And yes, we sell them. I haven't installed the AV kit yet, but it's identical to the CK truck kit in all important respects, and that one works well. A pair of extra hands is a must, though - forgot to mention that!

Rewbob-

Regular price is $199, free shipping. I'd like to get a club member to write a review of it, though, so if somebody will do that, we'll sell them one for $179, free shipping. Anyone interested?

Anyway, here's the URL, scroll to the bottom :

I'd love to take you up on the offer, but I'm out of town all next week and I'm sure someone else will jump on this before I get back. Also, I'm interested in knowing which brush guards I can use if this front hitch is on my truck. Most brush guards have a bar that cross in front of the general area where this hitch mounts.... anyone have confirmation on which guards will still work?

I would, however $20 discount is not a huge deal that I would jump on it and do the review. Plus I would like to know the same thing as Rewbob.... how does this affect the application of a grill gaurd?

Grill guard effects-

Hmm. Depends on the guard. The clearance hole for the rec. tube is just below the license plate recess. Looks to me like most guards are going to interfere. And, yes, you have to cut a hole in the front bumper cover. That's the part which makes me uneasy. Here, we have all the tools to do that job correctly (dremels, air-saws, etc.) but lotsa people don't, and if the hole isn't perfect, it's going to be really noticeable.

Yep, better go with a front bumper instead ;D

Here's a pic of the location. It's basically 1/2" down from the license plate lip in the center of the bumper, and 3" wide.

Here's a better image of that... I extracted it from the word document in the first post.

There is/was a member of this group that posted plans for a front mount receiver. Search for 'venado's winch bumper', and see what you think. I believe the parts came out less than $150.
