Warning Lights on after a brake job

Went to Oklahoma this past weekend about a 600 mile trip, had to replace brakes all four wheels due to back brakes being worn out, now the brake and traction control warning lights are on, and haven’t went off. I checked the brake fluid it’s full, tried to do the negative cable removal for 30mins to reset computer and the ignition switch/ gas pedal reset method no luck, did not disturb the wheel sensors, I also used a vice to depress the calibers without opening brake bleed off lines.

Maybe not related to brake job just bad timing?

Sometimes the solder joints on the ABS pump valve module crack and cause this issue.
Standard GM issue but...

I suggest getting codes read for brakes to see where issue lies and then follow trouble shooting procedures.

Went and had truck put on a scanner no codes, mechanic spent couple hours working with it, couldn’t find any reason for the lights to be on! Help?

IF light is on then it should have BRAKE ERROR codes...
maybe his scanner cannot read?

Maybe cluster issue?

Remove cluster and reseat.

My brake light is also on after my issues. The mechanic had the high end snap on code reader. The only thing it says is the brake light is illuminated, no code or reason why. Figured out it's the proportioning valve by disconnecting the wire to it.

Yep, my tahoe has the abs and brake lights pop on from time to time seemingly when it feels like it. It doesn't have any codes in the system so i figure there's an electrical fault going on. Probably a corroded or loose connection in my case as it resets when the car is restarted.

Good News! I unplugged the proportioner valve and the brake and traction control warning lights went out, I pulled my boat to the lake and no braking issues, thanks so much.

What happens when you plug it back in?

It is telling you something..

When I plug mine back it in it yells at me very loudly at start up. The truck is stopping the best since I've owned it. The mechanic suspects the valve needs to replaced but since it's acting fine I'm just going to keep it unplugged.

For crying out loud, what's the purpose of throwing a warning, yelling at you only to say "Brake light illuminated"? No sh** Sherlock. I know the light's illuminated. Tell me why. :beating:

And like I mentioned, the mechanic was using his professional grade Snap On scan tool, not some knock off.

wonder if the GM scanner thingy can get to the code?
Code says change prop valve. lol

The code basically says "You figure it out sucker." Mechanic popped the hood, did some sleuthing, messed around with the valves for a minute and finally pulled the plug.

3 Mechanics using high end scanners couldn’t pull any codes, so I relied on my Avalanche brothers for answers, but didn’t think about plugging it back in to see what happens.

Over/under says the brake light comes back on. Mine did so I unplugged it again to avoid going deaf. I might get around to replacing it some day, but it's stopping just fine so I'm in no hurry.

Yes I’m fine with it unplugged, I plugged it back up, lights came back on so I’m just going to leave it unplugged until it causes a problem.

I had a very similar issue. The brake sensor on the proportioning valve can be taken off with a socket its hand tight. Went to the junkyard two dollars lights off
