i just wondered if anyone got the extended warrenty for their trucks? i'm going on 50,000 kms and it's gonna end soon. what do you think go for extended? I wonder how much it would be and wonder what it covers. any opinions? ???

I got the 7 Year 100,000km extended warranty. My recollection, cause I can't locate that documentation in my file right now :E: is this covers everything other than wear items (wipers, lights, brakes, etc...) Price, $CDN2,065, for my '03 Z71. To be certain, I have my Z71 in the shop May 2010 having the mechanics chasing down every rattle and creak :B:

btw ... I specifically went to this package as I drive barely 10-12K/year.

does your AV suffer from piston slap? maybe you should take it in. if it suffers get it documented, and receive an extended warranty from the General on the motor and accessories. that's the free one. if you want other stuff covered you need to purchase the proper warranty.

I wouldn't know piston slap if it reached out and slapped me. ;) I have a 02 Z71, how can I tell? at 32k and climbing.

the main reason for getting more warranty is b/c of the water leaks that i keep on having. i have one particulary on the rear window, and man does it leak bad. I just went to the dealer to get it fixed only to find out that it's still just as bad if not worse!!! :8: i tested it this morning by using my garden hose on the rear panels and man did it leak. what should i do? go back for another empty promise? HELP :C:

I was wondering:

If you have a problem that occurs during the warranty period and the problem never gets fixed, should GM still cover repairs for that problem, even after the warranty period has expired?

If not, what's to stop dealerships from not fixing anything on a vehicle with a warranty about to expire?

Max.

i bought an 04 z71 from the dealer last week. they offered me many war. but i took the 72mo 72k mi because i drive very little...but check this out....i have a $100 deductable, but if i dont go in for a claim between 3year/36k mi and 6year/72k mi, they will refund the price of the warrantee...i thought that was pretty cool...however, if i go in for a broken cup holder, the offer is off the table and i will not get one penny back...basically its good piece of mind for major problems...ie trans/engine. im not sure if you can find a similar product for a "used" car.

They need to fix it as long as it was brought in and documented it was broken during the warranty period and not fixed...

Ie say at 35,900 miles you go in for broken doohickey gasket....and they cannot fix and have to order part.....so you drive home and bring it back when they have the part but now your mileage is 36050...they have to fix it under original warranty....

DOes that help?

I was thinking more along the line of:

I have the 'noise in the front end' problem with my truck. It's not very severe, but I would like to have the problem resolved. I have been to two different dealerships having them look at the problem a total of three times now. Each time the problem goes away for a short period of time and then returns. The next time I take it in I think I am going to demand to test drive the truck before I accept the fix.

If this keeps going past the warranty period, are they going to start charging me for labour costs, even though it is a recurring problem?

I think I'm going to soon be looking for an extended waranty...

Max.
