Hey All,

So I am going used Avalanche shopping for a 2003 C1500 and We drove it around the lot for about 3 minutes to get to the sales office and I noticed that there was water leaking from the exaust pipe after that. Im in the middle of Arizona, and I have heard that this shouldn't happen. Does anyone have this problem, or have you heard what this might be? Any information you can give me would be great.

Also, how is gas milage for people? I live about 24 miles from work, and Would like to know how to soften that blow, or if anything helps!.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Jim

water from the exhaust is normal. not sure how living in Arizona would affect this.
as far as gas mileage... i live about 12 miles from work. the gas does not bother me very much. i have had a few GM trucks. i already knew what to expect. to soften the blow of rising fuel cost i would suggest keeping the metal off the pedal. also do not carry around any extra weight if you don't have to.

Cool, thanks Punisher. I just had someone say that there was something wrong with the gaskets... Im a car noob :(

Well then, sounds good to me.... 26 Starting, but he said he will go down, a good price for a 11K mile 2003 c1500?

that's funny. i was looking at some other trucks this week. the dealers told me that my '04 AV was only worth $28k. i laughed. then i left. is this one 4x4? that's pretty good on the miles though.

that sounds about right.... our 1500 4x sold for 26k with 5800 miles on it.... maybe you can get him down closer to 22.... GL

Sounds good. I need to be more assertive when I talk to this guy again, not good at negotiation hehe. Punisher, i also sent ya a private message..

The only concern you would have is if there was water sitting in the system while it's been sitting.

For the price listed tell them to install a new muffler and converter or get that value reduced off the price?

It's an Idea :D

I just took a short trip in (250 miles) my 04 1500 2wd, only 900 miles on the odometer. I got 19.6 mpg @ 65mph.

If the AV has been sitting for any length of time on the lot and is only used for short trips where the exhaust does not get hot enough to burn up all of the condensation in it you will get moisture.
If you buy the AV run it down to a quarter of a tank and then add a good fuel injector cleaner and a tank of Amoco/BP or Chevron and you should be good to go!
I also have a short drive to work 24 miles round trip and I get 14.3 MPG's in the city.
Good luck ;)

Water in the exaust is normal. My gas mileage on my Z71 4X4 AV runs between 18 to 19.4 depending on my highway driving.
