Hello everyone. New member here. I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche 1500 base series with an odd issue with fuel pump and gas cap. The gas needle has been inaccurate for about a month( been using odometer) I filled it up with gas about a week ago. Within a few moments, vehicle lost power and just did on me. I checked everything: fuses, relays, etc. I tightened gas cap..ran fine for a few miles. Died again. Removed gas cap: truck ran great. After a few days I replaced it with a new gas cap, refueled again...truck dies yet again. Removed gas cap all together drove aprox 150 miles..no issues. Through the evap. Error code. I replaced evap solenoid in front and rear. CE light is gone. Test driving it ..it lasted 20 min. Died again while going up a hill. Fuel pump was not priming at this point. I let truck set overnight. With gas cap off: fired right up idled for 1hr, drove home up a mountain to my home. Tighten new gas cap, engine stalls and fuel pump will not prime again. Any thoughts as to what this may be?

Fuel tank vent line maybe clogged.

Was is your fuel pressure?

I suspect a weak and dying fuel pump.

They don't always just die an instant and total death.

I've had them drag on for weeks doing weird stuff until they finally just quit and left me stranded.

Hindsight had me wishing I had checked the fuel pressure.
