I really wanted to , and i think it's a fine vehicle for a family, but it makes more sense financially to keep the Camaro.

Work, and the economy are just too 'weird' right now.

The times being what they are, maybe at a later date.

This sucks! Great financing and deals, and it just seems to risky. I only owe 12k on the Camaro.

But i will still come here to read about your adventures! :)

Don't give up hope, call a friend of mine at www.diamond-motors.com. His name is Armen and he can get you a great deal. It's worth checking out.

I understand what your saying...nowadays it's hard to predict what tomorrow will bring....only you know what you are comfortable with.....don't hesitate to check out some other options before deciding for sure....either way you always have a home here... :B:

i totally agree about the economy right now. for me though i still believe that i will only live once, and im going to make it a good one. self- neglect is a terrible thing. well hopefully things will be better and youll get one soon!

Six speed Z is a beast. Sell the Jimmy and get the AV. I don't have my 2000 six speed vette. But I am going for a Z-06 in the next 6-8 months. Need a work vehicle and the vette in the garage for weekends.

Is1fun,

Keep reading the CAFCNA threads and well get to you yet.

The temptation is just to great to resist!!!

i think that it is a good idea to think it through before you jump into something you may regret later. financially that is. i did that once. and believe me, it took some long hard thinking before i got my AV. i was on my way to Korea about 5 months before i got mine. but, with the $6000 i got off the sticker i could not resist. then i would be giving up a vehicle that was paid for. so i got the AV anyway! and just like a ford the tranny went out in it. good thing for me was i sold it three days before it happened. bad for the purchaser.
even though i have a payment now i have the assurance of having a reliable vehicle. or at least a warranty to back it up. just keep your head on straight and make the right decision for you and your family. the AV isn't going anywhere for awhile.
BTW, i never went to Korea. greatest thing that could have happened to me besides the purchase of the AV. :B:

If you wait and wait, you may never get what you want.

I live by this question:

Ever seen a hearse with a luggage rack?

You gotta do what is best for your family. Period. Sometimes it is a difficult path to take. Keep reading and posting though.

On a semi-side note: have you considered previously owned AVs? I am sure that some are going to start popping up out there. There will inevitably be at least one that is a killer deal. I don't know if anyone dealer is leasing the AV but if they are, there will be a day when those will come back on the market too.

In the end, just do what's best for your family.

I would have considered the Silverado SS when they come out..but the fact of the matter is my priorities are going to change here in another 6/7 months...and to be honest I can't see myself trading in the Av on it....rather keep it and do the best I can in the upgrade dept....

Can't justify to the wife spending the money on a performance truck when we're trying to save for a house of our own...for anyone who has ever rented knows how bad it sucks to put money toward something that will never really be yours... :B:

Well, you gotta do what's best for you.....but, as has been already stated, hanging around here will wear you down...you'll start to rationalize...then you'll weaken....all of your rationalizations will become valid reasons...you'll lose sleep at night because your driveway has this incredible void...then, when you can't take it anymore........off to the dealer you'll go and you will live happily ever-after!

Hang in there buddy!

FWIW, I'd say try the pre-owned Av route. Not that far in the future, you'll be able to get a 2002 for 1/2 the price of a new one - if you find one that's been cared for as well as many owned by CAFCNA members, could be a good deal.

Hey Trophyman, my version of that is 'have you ever seen a hearse pulling a u-haul!' - indeed it's a balance between common sense and enjoying the good things of life that works best in the end.

I admire your resolve. I shouldn't be thinking about it either. I keep flip-flopping between an Av and a Tahoe. Right now at two local Dealers are a Pewter Av just like I had been looking at when new and a Tahoe Limited that I lusted over when they came out (2000). Both have mileage in the low 20's. Be much easier if I stayed away from here. ;)

I just traded in my Black 2000 Tahoe LT 4x4 for my new '03 Black Av Z71. There's no comparison! I could never go back now! :)

Life without my Av at this point would be miserable.....this is probably the only vehicle I've ever owned that I lust over....and I'm proud of that fact.... :B:

I was cautiously interested in getting an Av at first. Between this forum and the GM incentives, I was worn down within 2 months, bought the Av and I've never looked back.

But realistically you have to be smart about investing in an Av. Even owning the best vehicle on the planet could wear thin if you get yourself in financial trouble over it. It could end up being a bittersweet experience. For me, it's all sweets!!

Hello All,
Well, I thought that I'd chime in here.
I work in the Tech sector. I got tired of waiting to see what the economy would do....My Dodge Ram had 148K miles on it and I had thought about rebuilding the engine or getting a Silverado Diesel. The Avalanche 2500 was actually suggested by myself as a compromise to my wife when she balked at the $4K option of the diesel engine. Since I bought my Av in May, I have never regreted it. When this Av is tired, I'll probably go the engine rebuild route. It has everything that I want in a vehicle. Plenty of power and room. Things that I did not have with the Dodge and it's 5.9L engine. This is the first GM vehicle that I have owned since high school (68 Olds 88 w/455 engine) and I am very pleasantly suprised.

One thing is for sure....as much as I love to try to accessorize my Av...when then monthly payment comes...I make sure I have the funds...I found myself in a hole in the past and never want to experience that again.....my Av is staying with me.... :B:

is1fun, by leaving the.... at the end of your post, it looks to me like you wanted to say,....right now.
so hang out at the av club, keep up on whats happening, and at the right time, go for your av!!

I waited at least 6 months before the, right time, came along, and either had to put 1000s in my old truck, or start over with payments, again!

you gotta show up at an av cruise, and find a friend, that will let you ride shotgun, for a while!
and keep the av dream alive!!

Not to mention you may come across a member on this site that can serve the dual purpose...motivator and lifesavor....you would be surprised the wierd circumstances that take place nowadays... :B:
