Hi Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia Avers,

We will be coming to western PA (some of you know that we do that pretty often) and would like to meet some of you in Pittsburgh.

The best dates for us would probably be the weekend of July 25,26,27. I am on a dismal baseball team that has to qualify to be in a tournament July 23-27 but like I said, it's a very dismal team so the odds are very, very good that we won't even have to worry about that tournament (y).

My dad, BigBlueAv and I have been talking a lot in the last few months about meeting up at PNC Park for a Pirates game. Unfortunately, the Pirates will be out of town that weekend. So if anyone is interested, maybe a tour of the park would be in the works?? I know the Pirates (just like my team) are a dismal team especially at home so I know not everyone would be interested in that. So maybe those people could meet with the baseball Av people somewhere after PNC Park and cruise around town.

I know that my dad really wants to have a photo op at the top of Mt. Washington with downtown Pittsburgh in the background (y). We are definitely wanting to see the 'Burgh so we are willing to do a lot of other things.

Please let me know what you think. Oh yeah, if this is a "go" and if there is a respectable amount of Avs there, we will take our Avalanche. Hopefully the exhaust will be modified by then.

Keep in mind that one side of the Fort Pitt tunnel is closed and driving downtown is a nightmare. Traffic detours everywhere.

Last time to the Burgh I went 20 miles out of my way so I would not have to come back through the downtown area. :(

I don't have any idea as to the expected completion of this work. Maybe some other AVers from the area could help out with this info.

Was just printing directions to get some People from work down to the airport. The outbound tunnels from pittsburgh are closed and it is a BIG mess down there. ?

If it was held somewhere outside of pittsburgh, ?It would probably be alot better. ?If it was held in town it'd be tough keeping everyone together. ? Like maybe a Trip to "Grove City" or Monroeville.

Remember Monroeville Gots a Hooters and Grove City has Shopping/Large Parking Lots/ETC ETC? :D

Wow, it sounds like downtown is quite a mess .

Does anyone know which date they would prefer? I know the turnout would probably be greater during the weekend. It's just too bad the Pirates will be in St. Louis that weekend because I want to be in Pittsburgh when they are in town which is during the week. It would be pretty darn hard to have a GTG working around an evening game with rush hour during the week :6:.

Hi CoAvZ71,

I think JustJeepin and Texascwgrl are planning a GTG in Dayton OH on July 26. ?Maybe you could join in on that one?

Just an ?:0:

Here is a link

i'd definately be interested in a GTG. Just got mine a few weeks ago and i'm dying to drive it to a club function. Please let me know if you guys plan something in the western PA area.

Hi all,

No, I haven't forgotten about this. There are a couple complications with it though.

1) We will be Av-less :6:. My parents simply decided it needs to be saved and we don't have the $ money to replace it anytime soon especially with the expenses coming for me (car insurance, college in a couple years, etc). Unless you all don't mind us showing up without an Avalanche and instead in a minivan, this part doesn't matter a whole lot.

2) The dates are not working out very well. The best time would be the first weekend in August. The Rockies are in town and it's the only weekend homestand for the Pirates while we're there. The only problem is that BigBlueAv is working that weekend. I know he hasn't posted here but I have been talking to him :).

The only other alternative I can think of would be the series before against the Padres. The problem with that is it is during the week so because most of you will be working this would have to be during the evening.

3) Getting away from Erie. Once we are there, the family gets over possessive and might get angry at my dad for taking time away from them.

4) Traffic problems downtown. I told my dad about this and he suggested meeting at the South Hills Park-n-Ride, ride the light rail into downtown, go up the incline on Mt. Washington, ride the riverboat to PNC Park and finally go to the Pirates game at 7:00.

I know going to Pirates game will probably be disagreeable to some people so I do not expect this to be a big GTG. But after the watching the Rockies in Pittsburgh, PNC and downtown just looked so good and it seemed like a must to see that park.

These are the things my dad wants to do and I am sorry if he doesn't want to do much else unless he gets to see PNC Park - then he'd be willing to do lots of things on top of that :).

So right now he wants to:
-either meet somewhere in downtown and ride the incline and riverboat then go to the Pirates game

or

-meet at the South Hills Park-n-Ride, ride the light rail and do the same things downtown.

BigBlueAv: if nobody can/wants to do this are you still available? My dad wants to see Duquesne with you separately.

Thoughts ???? Sorry for the long post
